CHAPTER 6 A week has past since you last saw James and you anxious to see him again. You got ready for the party James invited you to, after trying on the number amount of dresses that would fit you, you finally found the perfect one. It was black and had a black bow on the back with black pearls on the strings that were attached to the bow. It was a sleeveless dress but you had matching gloves to go with it. Elizabeth came up to you to see it she just stared at it and raised her eyebrow. “Black? You’re not going to a funeral,” she finally said. You glared at her. Taking your gloves and putting them on you made a humph noise. “Yeah I love your dress too Lizzy,” you said in sarcasm, then you added, "This was the only dress I could find in your closet that would fit me.” She now glared at you and put her hands on her hips. “Are you saying I’m fat?” “Of course not I’m saying I am you’re too skinny I’m pudgy.” “No you’re not pudgy at all.” said Elizabeth. Man this was now awkward, you’re standing in front of a girl you’ve admired for a long time and now she’s telling you you’re not fat. That’s never happened before. “We should get going.” she adds. You arrive at the party and everyone cheers for Elizabeth and Will, for it is their second year anniversary and Will is taking her on a romantic trip. They look so happy together. You sigh dreamily and watch as they laugh and hold hands. If only you could be that happy. You were always scared of falling in love because your mother has been hurt so many times before she met your father. You never wanted to suffer the same fate. Someone tapped you on the shoulder and you turned around, it was James. “You can’t help but be jealous of them can you?” he asked, in a sad tone. Poor James you sensed that he still cared for Elizabeth and still longed for her. “No you… can’t.” you replied as you pushed a stray hair in your face back behind your ears. He held his arm up for you to take. “Walk with me?” he asked. You nodded and linked your arm into his. He took you outside, in the garden and you breathed in to smell the flowers. A million stars surrounded the full moon, the sound of the ocean filled your ears with delight. “I love nights like this,” you whispered just enough so James could hear. He sat down on a bench next you. “Listen, um, for the past week since you’ve been here I’ve had feelings for you.” he spoke softly. You were shocked! Did he just say he loved you? You were so shocked you couldn’t move, couldn’t breath, couldn’t speak. You cared for James, really you did but you didn’t know if you cared for him in that way though. You saw him get down on one knee was he proposing? “Will you marry me?” Yep this was it. Oh god what do you do now, run? No that wouldn’t be right. You just stood there and said nothing. “I’ll await your answer when you’re ready.” James stood up and took your hand and softly kissed it. Then he left. Left you standing there to your thoughts. You didn’t know what to say, you’ve never been in love before. Now to be proposed to? Why would any man in the world want you? You’re a collage student who has to take care of your sick father for crying out loud. But yet you don’t want to break the poor man’s heart. He’s been through so much as well. You finally came to your senses and ran, ran as fast as you could from this place. You ran so far that you were on the beach now and under a dock. You leaned against a poll that was holding up the dock to catch your breath. You felt someone tap your shoulder and it startled you and made you jump. When you did you turned around and saw a figure next to you. “Ye seem at be in my way missy!” snapped the stranger. You finally saw the stranger in clear form you gasped as you saw who and what it was. It was a pirate. You backed away slowly. “S-sorry about that.” you stuttered, afraid he might see the bracelet. The pirate studied you for a moment and then he looked at your wrist. Oh no! He did see it. “Where did ye get tha’ missy?’ he asked. You looked at your wrist. “Oh this old thing? It was a gift,” you said as you swallowed hard. The pirate raised his eye brow. “I think ye need ta be coming with me missy,” he snarled. You shook your head franticly and held on to your wrist with your other hand. “No your not taking this!” you screeched. You started to back away and run but the pirate grabbed hold of your stomach with both arms and pressed you up against him. You kicked and screamed and struggled with all your might but the pirate was too strong for you. “James help me, someone!” you yelled but the pirate covered your mouth so you can’t scream. “James?” he asked. He dragged you to his ship and dropped you on deck. “Gibbs set sail and raise anchor we’ve found what we were looking for.” * * * * * Author's note: I think you have a pretty good idea about who this pirate is hmm? Told you he would show up I’m never writing a pirates story without Jack <3 TBC... |
