He never understood what you had done to him, nor could he find the words to describe it. It was an addiction, plain and simple. An addiction for his young, beautiful doll. That was how he viewed you.

He couldn’t get you out of his mind no matter how hard he tried. No matter how much rum he consumed or how many women he bedded, your sweet image was always there haunting his every move.

Every one of your actions drew him closer and yet he could not define what they were. A simple curve of your lips or a twinkle in your dark eyes would make his breathing quicken and his stomach flutter. And Jack hated it. He hated your control over him more than anything else he had ever encountered but he could do nothing to stop himself, he always had to have more.

He had tried to fight it but there was only so much he could do. Only so much time he could spend in Tortuga. Only so much time he could spend away from you before the burning desire rushed through his veins and he had to see you, inhale your scent and hold you tightly in his arms.

He knew you were unaware of his emotions but that did nothing to stop his desire for you. You were radiant to Jack but there was never an air of smugness or self confidence because of it. You were beautiful but it was completely unknown and it only served to entice Jack further.

He felt he had to show you how he viewed you but it never seemed to work. On arrival at your house, he would shower you with gifts and jewels but they never seemed to satisfy him enough. Your words of protest flew past him and he only saw the delight in your smile and the glitter in your eyes and that image would suck him in further. It was a hidden charm and one that you were completely oblivious to but it enticed Jack more than any simple words could.

He had heard them all, the words promising him so much thrill and excitement but after meeting you they had meant nothing. Never had he heard you utter anything remotely flirtatious but then he would never have expected that from you. Perhaps those words would have bought him out of his stupor.

He could not help himself. He could not stop himself from coming back to you, could not stop indulging you with jewels that never twinkled as much as he thought you did nor could he stop his desire for the look in your eyes when you saw him again. These were the things that drove him to his own destruction.

You were his doll, so placid and calm that he never wanted to let a single troublesome thing mar your perfect complexion. Everything about you lured him: your appearance, your behaviour and your silent charm. He viewed you as his property, needed to brand you and keep you as his own so he could fulfil all his burning desires. His porcelain doll that never complained about his actions or absences; merely gazed at him through seemingly liquid brown eyes and turned that pale face to him with a warm smile whenever he returned.

It was the want of you that slowly drove him mad. The need to touch your pale skin beneath the jewelled bodices and full skirts, the desire to inhale your fresh, sweet scent and the longing to hold you tightly in his arms and make love to you until the sun rose and dawn split across the sky.

It was as though you should be forbidden to him, the one apple hanging in the tree that he could never pluck or the one ship he could never sail into the sunset on. He knew you had no idea what you were doing to your reputation but that was never enough of a reason for him to stop seeing you. He came as often as he could without anyone getting suspicious, climbing into your bed chamber on later rendezvous and holding you in his arms, satisfying the longing that had caused him to scurry back to you.

He had no idea when or why you had let him grow so close to you. The images and memories in his mind seemed to entangle together leaving one overwhelming feeling. It was that feeling that Jack hated and adored all at once but he had no idea what it was nor could he try to define it when he saw you.

As much as he viewed you as his doll there was always something deeper. It was as though you left poison in his system every time he went away and the only antidote was to see you again before he went truly insane.

He could remember vividly the first time he saw you and it was one of the strongest images he could ever imagine. You had looked so beautiful that something deep inside him had fixed you as a target and the next goal to be achieved. Jack had been in port for the ceremony of two of his closest friends and it was that evening when he had stopped to admire you.

You never forced yourself to be the centre of attention, preferring to stand at the edge of the room and take simple delight in watching the couples on the dance floor. Jack couldn’t help but to watch you and even he noticed the yearning in your eyes. He saw the childish desire as you gazed intently at the swaying bodies. That desire was to have a man ask you to dance but Jack couldn’t understand why no-one had done so. All the eligible young men seemed to keep their distances from you and Jack could pick up the sadness in your posture and esteem and he was so curious to find out why.

He monitored you all evening until it seemed you had finally endured enough and slunk back into the shadows. Like a cat he followed, not due to worry or concern over your emotional state but because he could not tear his eyes away from you for even a moment, let alone have you out of his sight.

Jack trailed you out of the house, keeping to the shadows as you failed to walk confidently towards the water’s edge that backed the mansion. He watched as you wandered onto the small wooden jetty and stopped at the end, staring straight into the sunset that was certainly blinding you. Much to his own distress Jack could not make himself leave and his eyes greedily took in every curve and detail of your body. The black dress hugged your curved figure and accentuated the porcelain skin of your neck and arms. Your dark hair was swept off your elegant neck into an elaborate style but the wind still tugged at it, determined to make it fall free.

Jack had fought with himself to leave and the pirate determination had finally won until it was shattered by one simple look. You had heard noises behind you and turned sharply, taking in the rugged pirate and meeting his dark, soulful eyes. Jack noticed immediately that the clear complexion he had so greatly admired earlier that evening had vanished and been replaced by smudged eyes and streaked cheeks.

It was that moment when your eyes met his that his addiction began. You were silently pleading with him and he understood, walking forward to take one of your perfectly manicured hands and pulled you silently into his arms. You gripped him tightly, savouring the warmth and safety of his touch. It was then when he first inhaled your scent and marvelled at how well you fitted against him. But as quickly as the moment had begun it had finished as you pulled away and swept back towards the house with renewed confidence that had been put there by a simple touch. It was that moment when you left Jack’s grip that he had felt empty and these unordinary feelings had come alive. Standing on the small jetty was when Jack realised he wanted to protect you, not just bed you as his next conquest.

He had, of course, in time taken you and the imprint would be forever marked on his soul as it had been gentle and romantic and after so many encounters of simply holding you in his arms and inquiring how you had been. He could even remember the very early visits when you were out in town and he would simply watch you, keeping his presence undetected.

And it was every time after that when he climbed through your window that he knew he felt right and that your place was by his side although he would never knowingly admit it. That time did come however and much sooner then he ever suspected it would.

He climbed up to your window on the first night of his arrival in town and was pleased to find it unlatched. He had been anticipating for the past month waking you sweetly as you lay still between the crisp sheets. However it was not how he found you and as he was confronted by your emotional figure weeping in a chair by the fire. Immediately he took you in his arms, desperate to find out what was wrong but also to quench the ardent need of holding you again. Jack could remember the choked words screaming in his ears even though they were so softly spoken.

“My father has arranged a marriage for me.”

He had felt the immediate rush of anger, quickly followed by glowering jealously at another man having the right to hold his doll, inhale her scent and taste her alluring skin. That thought tortured Jack more than he could believe and he knew in those few seconds what he had to do. He wanted to do everything that he couldn’t explain.

To Jack you were his, completely his property and even the words made him want to hurt the man who was trying to claim you. You had been pure to him and that was how it was meant to stay. No other man could try and come between something he valued so highly because they would never succeed. Captain Jack Sparrow would make sure of that.

It was then that his addiction took hold of his actions and words when he gazed into your shining eyes. He had vowed never to let you be unhappy and yet standing there before him you were and that hurt him more then he could possibly describe. It was in that moment that he told you. He told you that he would marry you and that he would take you away from the man who was trying to kidnap her. At that moment Jack said the things he never thought he would say.

It was then that he told you that he loved you.
