CHAPTER 1

A mysterious fate it seemed, that you one day unexpectedly woke up in the brig of a pirate ship. You were unsure of how you got there, or why you were there. The last memory you had was falling asleep in front of the T.V while watching a dull documentary on insects. So waking up on a pirate ship came as a bit of a shock for you.

You sat there for hours, you were cold and hungry, all you had on were your thin cotton pyjama’s that you were wearing when you fell asleep and the floor of this place had a leat three inches of water nicely covering it. So this, you thought, is how it will end for me. Waking up on a ship of a species of man that I thought became extinct long ago and dieing there from hunger, cold and neglection. It wasn’t so bad once you thought about it. There were worse ways for your life to end.

It then suddenly occurred to you that you were unsure of how you knew you were on a pirate ship. You had just woken and the first thought that came to mind was what joy, a pirate ship. Maybe you had some memory of what had happened after all. You decided to try and recall the memory which you have now forgotten. You scrunched your face up until you looked ridiculous and concentrated really hard. Concentrate, concentrate. You ended up more frustrated than before. You couldn’t remember a thing, and now your head felt like it was going to explode. Oh the good things in life just kept coming at you.

You sighed and leaned against the metal bars of the cell you were in. Then, just when you had given up all hope of remembering what had happened to you, you heard footsteps coming towards you… or the cell rather.

“Have ye though’ ‘bout what ye’ve done?” A gruff, unfamiliar voice asked.

You weren’t sure whether you were supposed to answer the man or not. Was he talking to you? Or were there others here. You looked around, no; there was no one else here. Just you and your merry old self. Though you still weren’t sure of the answer he was looking for.

“Answer me!” He barked.

So you were supposed to answer. What with? What did he want you to say?

“Yes, I’ve thought about it, and I’ll never do it again.” It worked when you were the tender age of six on your parents. Perhaps it would work now on this man. Or at least… you assumed by the voice and the heavy footsteps you heard just moments ago that it was indeed a man.

Had you been able to see his face, you would have seen the questioning, disbelieving look on it. “You’ll never threaten to push me over board again?” He asked. “Even though you know that every time you have made that promise you have broken it?”

You nearly laughed out, you did that? When? It did seem as something you may do, had you been pushed to your limit. You decided you should turn a face the man. When you did, you realised you still couldn’t see him. The door that lead out on deck was open, casting sun into the brig, meaning all you could see was a shadowed figure in front of you.

A shadow that was now frowning at you, although you couldn’t actually see the frown.

“Who are you?” He asked. “And what have you done with Anamaria?”

“Who?” Who indeed. Who was Anamaria? Perhaps she was the one that threatened to push this man over board.

“If you’ve done anything to my second best crew member I’ll have your guts for garters.”

At times like this you really wished you weren’t quick witted, you also wish you thought before you spoke. “Anamaria sounds like a girl’s name. You got a thing for her?”

“I most certainly do not.” He growled at you.

“Ah… denial.” You sighed knowingly. You then realise you shouldn’t have said that, or the remark before.

“What’s yer name lass?” He snapped at you.

You hand over the precious information of your name and the man hmm’s thoughtfully.

“Ok, how did you get here?” He asked.

“Woke up ‘ere.” You answered truthfully.

He then ah ha’s thoughtfully and you think to yourself, Why this man is full of thoughtful sounds? You then decide that you should get some information off him.

“Who are you?” You ask, it was unfair that he knew your name you not his.

“Captain Jack Sparrow.” He replies quickly, he seemed to still be in thought.

“Could you tell me where I am?” You believed that you have a right to know.

“On ‘The Black Pearl’.” He says as if it was general knowledge. “A day away from Tortuga.”

He then suddenly leaves you. You are yet again by yourself. Wondering, how you, a girl from the 21st century ended up on a pirate ship. One time in history you couldn’t care less about.

CHAPTER 2

You’re really not sure how much time has passed since Ja… James? No… Jack…? Yes, Jack left you. You became bored and started to hum a little tune. Christmas Carols always lift your mood. Christmas is your favourite time of year. The presents, the food, the family, the presents. Doesn’t get much better… well, maybe there could be no annoying family to give you all the dodgy gifts, but it was still good. You start to sing softly.

“You better not shout, You better not cry, You better not pout I’m telling you why… Santa Claus is coming to town…” You’re not really sure of the words after that small part so you stick to humming the tune until you got to ‘Santa Clause is coming to town’ that part you sung. People have told you, you have a reasonable voice… but you cringe whenever you hear it, it’s really terrible; the people you know are just tone deaf. Jack seems to be on your side.

“Shut up ye bloody woman!” He shouts.

You jump, you hadn’t noticed him there. How long had he been listening to you hum off key?

“Sorry,” You mutter.

Never sing again, do you understand me?”

“Yes.”

“Yes Captain.” Jack corrects you.

“Yes… captain.”

“Better.” Jack looks at you for a moment, you can actually see him now, he is no longer in a position where the sunlight is behind him casting a shadow over his face. You notice he has tanned skin is the first thing, and dark eyes. He has a goatee that is done in two braids. You also see that his hair is dark brown, nearly black, and a mix of a tangled mess and dreadlocks, he has a bandana, you think it’s either faded red or orange, the light is dim making it hard for you to see, and beads in his hair. He surprisingly comes off as not too bad looking. Easy on the eyes. He seems to be studying you, your not entirely sure if he is checking you out or trying to figure out what you’re wearing. Nothing special, just some pale pink cotton pyjama’s, they’re thin too. The pants are long, they drag on the ground actually, but the top is sleeveless with a white silhouette of a palm tree and an island.

It the occurred to you that you weren’t exactly at home anymore, you were in… well, the past, a few hundred years to be exact. On a ship, with pirates. What you were wearing probably wasn’t the best thing. But… you figured you’d survive. Possibly.

“Um… excuse me?” You ask, trying to sound polite. The silence, along with the stare was making you feel and little uncomfortable.

Jack coughed. “Right, sorry.” He pulled a ring of keys off a small hook on the wall. “I’ll let you out, but you are to stay in my cabin, unless you are on deck with me… or possibly Will.”

You nod, just thankful to be getting out of the place. “Thankyou.”

“Anything for a pretty lass like yourself.”

You blush slightly but don’t say anything, you weren’t used to such compliments and weren’t sure what to say when you received one.

“Um,” You started hesitantly. “What about um... Anamarie? Was that her name?”

“Anamaria,” He corrects you. “Turned out I’d let her out early the ‘smorning. Funny… I don’t remember it. But I trust ‘er to tell me the truth.”

“Ok.” You said unsurely. This Jack… he was an odd character. But you decided you could… maybe trust him. After all, he so far hadn’t given you a reason not to. It was you who had mysteriously time travelled and ended up on his ship, and he was being kind enough about it.

“Alright, now… a little tip for ye. Don’t talk to the crew, I’ll introduce ye to young Will, and if you need anything… he’s the eunuch to ask.”

“Uh…” You start hesitantly. “Are there other eunuchs on your ship?” You didn’t live in the dark, you were quite sure a eunuch was a guy with no…

Well, moving on.

“Yeah, Crookry’s. Definitely stay away from him.” Jack advised.

You just nodded.

“So, ye gonna stand there forever, or follow me?”

You stared at Jack… confused for a while before it clicked. “Oh… right.” You followed him out of the brig.

Out on deck everything seemed well, perfect. In an odd way that was. It all seemed to be in order, there were men scrubbing the decks, others up on the masts working with the sails. You felt as though you had walked straight onto the set of some sort of pirate film. You noticed there was something different about this ship, you looked up. The sails… they were black. You had only ever seen white sails on a ship like this. But the black… it seemed to suit this ship, you were unsure of what to think, it all just… fitted together perfectly, like a jigsaw puzzle once it’s complete.

Jack noticed you had stopped and that you were now staring, as though is some sort of a trance, at the ship. He smiled to himself, people often did that first time they laid eyes on The Pearl. She was a real beauty, perfect in every way…

“Ahem,” Jack cleared his throat and you stepped out of your trance immediately.

“Oh right, sorry. Um, lead the way.” You said quickly.

Jack gave you an odd look before shrugging and making a path across the ship.

You noticed the men… pirates… looking at you, or more, at your chest. You started to feel really uncomfortable and moved closer to Jack without realising. You moved you arms to cover your chest and tried to stare straight ahead and ignore the stares you were getting. Jack seemed to notice how uncomfortable you were feeling too, he handed you his jacket.

“Best be safe love.”

You just nodded, although he couldn’t see you, and slipped the oversized jacket on.

You stopped walking when you reached a door. Jack opened it and put his arm out in a gesture showing you to allow yourself in. You stepped into the room, you took a quick look around but didn’t pay too much attention to detail. The room was tidy, and fairly spacious, but it still felt cosy at the same time. You frowned at your own thought, describing a pirate’s cabin as cosy? Only you.

“Stay ‘ere for a moment will ye?” Jack asked.

You simply nodded. “Ok.”

“An’ don’t touch anything.”

You nodded again, but this time you didn’t say anything.

You must have been standing, feeling lost, in the cabin for only a few minuets… but it felt like much longer. There was suddenly a knock on the door.

“Oh,” You said slightly surprised. “Um, come in?”

The door creaked open, you expected to see Jack, but you didn’t. This man looked a fair bit younger, he had dark brown hair, it’s wasn’t really long, but long enough to be tied back into a small pony-tail. You also noticed his eyes, they were a deep captivating brown. You knew one way to describe this man, and one way only… hot!

“Um, Hi.” You said awkwardly.

“Hello,” He said softly. “I’m Will.” He introduced.

“Oh, the eunuch?” You slipped up, crap!

“Did Jack tell you that?” Will asked.

“Um, yeah…”

“Oh, ignore him.” Will waved his hand dismissively.

“Oh, um… ok.”

The next few moments passed in silence. You weren’t sure if it was comfortable or awkward; it seemed to be a bit of both… if that was possible.

“So um… where are you from?” Will asked.

Your mind seemed to stop on the spot. How were you going to explain where you were from? Oh well…

“No where you’ll know.” You told him vaguely.

“Try me.”

“Uh…” Crap! “A place… far away.” Far, far away.

“I see…” Will seemed to know he wasn’t going to get an answer out of you.

And damn right that was.

No one could know you were from the future. No one.
