CHAPTER 6

“Jack?” you say, grabbing onto his arm. He didn’t answer you.

“Jack?” you say again. Still no answer. The men are coming closer, and you can’t take the silence anymore.

“JACK!” he turns around and slings you onto his shoulder, and you quirk your eyebrow.

“Jack, now’s not the time to get me to have sex with you!”

“Just play along!” he turns back around, growling at the navy officials. You can’t see anything, as the only thing that’s in your vision is his backside, but you have no complaints about that.

“Not a step closer,Commodore!”

“You’re kidnapping that woman! We shall not let you pass!” says one.

“Move closer and I WILL kill her.”

“Pssst! Jack!” you hiss, “are you really gonna kill me?”

“O’ course not, Luv,” he hisses back.

“Okay... uh... go on. I was just checking.” Commodore Norrington appears, a weird smug look on his face.

“Well, well. This is not wise, not wise at all, Mr. Sparrow. Kidnapping a woman in Port Royale?”

“I think I make the decisions here, Commdore,” snarls Jack.

“Luv, yer gonna have to scream,” he whispers. But you’re not paying attention to Jack, you’ve got far more worse matters in your hands.

There, on the floor, was a black widow, making its way towards you.

“AIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! AHH!!!!! HELP ME!!! SOMEONE, HELP!!!!!” you can just imagine that monster’s fangs biting into your skin. Do spiders even have fangs?

Commodore Norrington shivers mentally at your cries, but refuses to show any emotion. Jack begins to back up slowly, heading for the ship. But the closer he gets, the closer the spider is.

“AH!!!!!!!!! OH NO!!!!! PLEASE, STOP!!! PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU!!!! PLEASE PUT ME DOWN!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!” Jack tips his hat as he gets on the Black Pearl, grinning at the officers.

“Today, gentlemen, you will always remember this as the day...er...night, that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow!”

The ship starts to leave the port, leaving a fuming Norrington and his men.

“That was great, Pet! Ye ever think of becomin’ an actress?” Jack lets you off his shoulder, only to watch you fall to the floor.

“Luv?” he shakes you, but you don’t answer. You have fallen into unconsciousness.

Damn spiders!

* * * *

Will was talking with Elizabeth when the commotion starts.

“And so she-” he stops as he hears anguish cries in the distance.

“HELP ME!” He runs down the street leaving Elizabeth to wonder where he was going. As he makes his way to the port (which wasn’t too far away where he was before), he sees Commodore Norrington throwing his sword to the ground in anger.

“What has happened?” Will asks.

“I’ll tell you what happened!” growls an official.

“Sparrow!”

“Jack Sparrow?” Will wonders why he didn’t visit! After all, they did go on an adventure together. But maybe he was too busy.

“Yes,” glares Norrington, “Jack Sparrow. He has kidnapped a woman...the bookstore owner.” Will feels the color drain from his face, his imagination running wild as to what Jack might do to you.

“Oh no,” he whispers sadly.

* * * *

“Luv? Luv?” your eyes open groggily as you see Jack waving his hat in front of you crazily. Did he actually think that waving his hat around will help you?

“There-there was a spider!” you cry, looking around. Jack grins.

“No more, Milady. We’re out of Port Royale! And into tha sea!” you can’t help but smile. You are now starting your adventure!

“Well, let’s get ye settled, then... I think yer gonna get along with Anna Maria the best... seein’ as ye both like to hit me.” you snicker as you follow him into a small room.

“Well Jack, I have to admit, it is fun hitting you.” he shakes his head but doesn’t say anything.

“Well, ye can come up to meet me crew if ya like! Ye can leave yer bags ‘ere....” you nod and follow him back on deck, where some pirates are chatting and others are working.

“Listen up, everyone! We got someone stayin’ on board with us!” the men hoot and make catcalls as they see you, and your grip on Jack’s hand tightens.

“Although I’d be especially careful aroun’ her if I were ye. She’s got a powerful swing!” the men laugh and you chuckle with them nervously. A man gets up and walks over to you and Jack, his eyes watching you warily.

“Tis bad luck to bring a woman on board, Cap’n... but ye already know that...”

“Well then, Gibbs, get used to it, mate! She’s gonna be here fer a bit!” Gibbs sighs and extends his hand.

“Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Lass.” you shake his hand, smiling softly. This was the start of a new life, and hopefully, a journey to remember.

* * * *

“We must do something!” cries Will, his hands shaking with fury.

“And what do you think we should do, Mr. Turner?” asks Norrington.

“Something! Anything! We must get her back!” he knew Jack, but... kidnapping his friend? Why would he ever do that?

“Why did he take her?”

“I don’t know, Mr. Turner. But I assure you I’ll get my best men on it.”

“No, that’s not good enough! I know what you think of her! You think of her as an outcast! She’s important to me! If you won’t try to find her, I will!” Norrington’s eyes go into slits as he looks at Will, taking in consideration to what’s been said.

“Fine. We shall start tomorrow.”

“Tomor-”

“Yes, tomorrow,” he interrupts, “for me to get my crew, and for us to come up with some kind of plan. I’m not going to go into this blindly, Mr. Turner. I am no fool.” Will just nods, for he does not know what else to do.

“Tomorrow then.” he actually considered Jack a friend, but now that you’ve been taken, he is no longer considered that. He kidnaps you, and now Will is out for blood. He stalks away, his mind going crazy with worry.

* * * *

You look out onto the sea, smiling as you see Jack singing loudly.

“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life fer me!” he walks over to you, winking.

“’Ello, Luv. Enjoyin’ yer stay on the Pearl?”

“Very much,” you grin.

“I expected ya would. Yer away from the townsfolk, and that guy of yers...ye look alot happier.”

“Yeah, I’m glad I’m away from Will.” Jack drops his bottle of rum as he hears you say the man’s name.

“Who?”

“Will...” you say slowly.

“Will what?”

“Turner.” Jack’s face pales and he looks at the water, getting very interested in watching the waves.

“Shit!”

“What what?!”

“I know Will Turner!”

“You do?”

“Aye, I do! And what do ye think he’s gonna do when he finds out I’ve supposedly “kidnapped” ye, Luv?”

“Shit!” you say, and Jack nods.

“Took the words right outta me mouth, Luv.”

* * * *

Will rushes to his shop, quickly packing some things. Elizabeth is waiting for him, her face full with worry.

“Will, why did you run off?” as Will continues to pack, he replies.

“Jack has taken my friend!”

“Who?” he says your name and she gasps.

“Oh no!”

“I’m leaving tomorrow to get her back.” Elizabeth’s eyes widen.

“You are?”

“Of course! She’s my friend! I will not let her rot on that ship!” Elizabeth doesn’t answer.

“She’s important, Elizabeth. You’d like her if you met her. She’s very nice...” Elizabeth looks away, not wanting to meet his gaze.

“What?”

“Nothing, Will.”

“Tell me! Don’t lie!”

“It’s just... I’ve heard some things... about her....”

“Like what?” asks Will. You are an open book! Nothing will surprise him!

“Well, a few women told me they went into the shop, and they said they heard her having sex with a man behind the counter!”

Will drops his bag on the floor, clutching his chest.

“WHAT?!”

* * * *

“Well, this certainly will get interesting,” you mutter, watching Jack move crazily around the ship, his hands moving around more than usual. You make your way near the cabins and glance to your left, seeing Anna Maria reading a book and you tilt your head to the side curiously.

“What are you reading?” Anna Maria glances up and looks at you long and hard for a moment, and you wonder if she’s going to respond or throw you off the ship.

“Broken Tides...” you smile.

“It’s a very good book.” you tell her your name and she nods.

“Did you really smack Jack with a book?” you grin sheepishly, nodding.

“Well then, anyone who hits Jack and lives to tell tha tale is all right with me!” you laugh and you start to talk to her, mostly about the sea and Jack.

“I hit him with a large dictionary, actually.” Anna Maria snickers.

“Serves ‘em right. Still hasn’t given me a ship yet.”

“I’m sure he will.”

“Pfft.” you giggle and glance at the book she was reading, and then at her.

“You enjoy reading?” she nods.

“But not alot of ‘em know I read... don’t want ‘em to think I’m foolish.” you shake your head.

“It’s not foolish at all...” you quickly leave and come back with some books in your hand.

“Here you go... when you have the time, of course. I’m in no rush to get them back.” Anna Maria raises an eyebrow at you.

“Why are ye so nice to me?”

“What do you mean?”

“We’re pirates, missy. People like ye, those upper class folk, they usually don’t want nothin’ to do with us. We’re outcasts.”

“So am I...” Anna Maria says nothing, but pats you on the back softly.

* * * *

“So... clarify this for me... you say that a few women heard her having SEX with someone?”

“Yes!! They even saw the man the next day!”

“What did he look like?” asks Will quickly.

“Um.... long, brown hair... some dreadlocks and braids... gold... teeth...” she stops as this is all connecting in her head.

“Will, she had sex with Jack!”

* * * * *

CHAPTER 7

“And so, there he was, standing in the midst of the men that gathered before him! He knew right then and there, that his life would end tonight, no doubt...” you start to tell a fictional tale that you have read in a book, while most of the pirates on the ship listen, especially Gibbs, since he loves to tell stories.

“And then, in a blink of an eye, he-” you stop as you see Jack smirking at you, his arms folded across his chest. He motions with his head for you to follow him, and you clear your throat.

“Well, that shall be all for tonight!” the pirates growl and moan, for they did not wish to be left at such a cliffhanger. You smile and walk over to Jack, who’s in his cabin.

“’Ello, Luv. Enjoyin’ tellin’ yer story?” you laugh.

“Yes, very much!”

“C’mere. Sit.” you sit next to him, watching him with a wary eye.

“What’s this about?”

“The book!”

“Book?” he gives you a ‘look’ and your eyes widen.

“Oh! That book!” he rolls his eyes while you snicker.

“Sorry.” you take out the book you’ve kept with you and start to run through the pages, while Jack waits impatiently. He peers over your shoulder, trying to see if there was anything interesting in the book. But then again, he couldn’t read, so he has no idea why he’s doing this. You glance at him, his face inches from yours.

“Ye find anythin’?”

“No.” he just grunts and nods, tapping his fingers idly in wait.

“How ‘bout now?”

“No.”

“...Now?”

“NO!”

“Sorry, sorry...”

“Grrrr...”

Silence.....

“How about now?”

“JACK! So help me, if you say that again, I WILL SMACK YOU WITH THIS BOOK! SO HELP ME GOD!” he grins, coming closer to you.

“Is that a promise, Pet?”

“Jack?” you whisper. He glances at your mouth again, and he nods.

“Yes, Luv?” you come closer, your mouth just inches from his. You want to kiss him, but oh, this is just too good. An opportunity that cannot be missed!

“I just wanted to tell you....”

“Tell me what?” he whispers huskily, his eyes looking at you with hunger. You slide over to him and smile sweetly.

“I just wanted to to tell you that... I found the island! So I’ll go tell Gibbs where it is. G’night!” you rush out of the cabin leaving a dumbfounded Jack Sparrow.

“Wha what that?! Bloody ‘ell woman, come back ‘ere!” he gets out of his chair and rushes on to the deck.

* * * *

“So, we’re going to go this way, then south,” you tell Gibbs, and he nods.

“And yer tellin’ me this because...”

“Oh, just play along, I’m annoying Jack.”

“One of yer favorite past times?” he grins.

“But of course!” Jack walks over to you, tapping you on the shoulder.

“Ye- oh, Jack! Hello!” you smile innocently. He glares and say nothing, but then decides to speak.

“Well, Luv... that was a good trick...” he grins, “but no one does that to a Captain and gets away with it.” he grabs you and leads you back to the lower part of the ship.

“Jack... what are we doing?”

“We’re going to check out my crew’s latest...erm....purchases.” he smirks and you roll your eyes.

“You mean steal!”

“Steal is such a strong word, Luv. I prefer... permanently borrowing.” he grins and starts looking through various trinkets, till he comes upon a medium sized box.

“Whas this?” he shakes it harshly, and you grab it from him.

“Could you be any less careful? Oh! It’s a chess set!”

“And?”

“You wanna play?” he looks at the box and then at you.

“I don’t know how to play it, Luv.”

“I can teach you! Come on!”

“But ye still haven’t gone through yer punishment!”

“You can punish me later.”

“Really?” his smile is wide, his gold teeth clearly in your view.

“Honestly, Jack, you’re so... ugh, forget it....” Jack just cackles in response.

* * * *

You make it back to his cabin and quickly sit at the table, fixing the pieces. You’re content beyond words, and Jack watches you for a minute.

“So how do I do this?”

“Here, you take this...”

“Cap’n-”

“Not now, Gibbs!” says Jack irritably.

“What are ye doin’ down there?”

“Chess!”

“Oh, I see... well then, I’ll leave ye be.” Jack doesn’t answer and listens to your instructions.

“Now are you ready to play?”

“I think so...”

* * * *

“Wait, it was JACK?!! But he kidnapped her! She would NEVER do that!”” screams Will, now getting frustrated.

“How would you know, Will?”

“Because I do! I’ve known her since she was twelve! She would never do that...with HIM!”

“Will-”

“She’s been changing, I can tell. She’s hurting, something happened to her! She told me she’s not who I think she is, that she’s different and not an open book! Jack took advantage of her!” and so Will begins to rant and rave, trying to pack his bags, leaving Elizabeth to wonder if he was in fact, abused as a child, seeing as he has all this pent up anger and frustration.

* * * *

“Jack you’re cheating!” you laugh, smacking his hand away. He grins and winks.

“Yer beatin’ me, Luv. ‘Scuse me fer goin’ fer desperate measures!” he groans and strecthes his legs, getting up from his seat.

“Well, I better be checkin’ up with me crew. Ye wanna come?” you nod and follow him with a book in hand, your eyes to the sky.

“It’s going to rain soon.”

“Yer so sharp, Pet. Ye never cease to amaze me with that head o’ yours.” you smack him in the back of the head, while he smiles.

“Love you too.” you walk over to the side of the boat, watching the water. You are thinking of Will, thinking of everyone at Port Royale, the book...you really need to stop worrying. Stress leads to irritation, irritation leads to ulcers. You see from the corner of your eye one of the crew come close to you, and you offer a smile. He smiles and speaks.

“Good evenin’, Miss.”

“Good evening, Sir.”

“Bad weather tonight.”

“Mmmmhmm.”

“Listen, I know yer a woman and all, but I really need help with some things. Do ye mind?”

“Oh, not at all!” you say, quickly following him. As you follow him downstairs and are out of sight of the crew, he slams you into a wall, quickly taking a knife out. You eye the shiney object with fear and anger, and the man smiles.

“Ye shall tell me where the book is, or I will slit yer throat and leave ye to bleed right here on this dirty floor.”

“You’ve got nowhere to go! We’re in the middle of the ocean!” you scream. He moves the knife closer to your neck, drawing a little bit of blood. You wince, but don’t say anything.

“Yer gonna speak in a lower tone, Lass. Now, what’s it to a man who has nothin’ to live fer if this goes bad?”

“So you’re a disturbed suicidal man?”

“I’d appreciate it if we cut the small talk and ye give me the book.”

“Never!” you screech, then kick him in the groin, smiling viciously as he falls to the ground. You can thank Will for that wonderful trick. You run up the stairs, stopping for a moment as you see it raining. The thunder was deafening, and the rain was harsh, freezing you to the bone. You turn around and see the man again, and you run in the opposite direction.

“JACK!” you scream, trying to get away, “JACK! A LITTLE HELP!”

Jack doesn’t seem to be anywhere, and the crew are too tied up at the moment. You shiver and turn around, the man not visible in sight. Now that wasn’t normal. He was right behind you...

You feel someone grab you by the back of your head, and you scream, trying to break from his grasp.

“That wasn’t a very smart move. You’ve made me angry. Now I’ll just have to kill you.” you try with all your might to break free, but your situation has gotten slightly better. He no longer has his knife! He kicks you in the back and you are sent towards the hard deck, blood flowing freely from your nose. He picks ypu up and hangs half your body off the boat, screaming over the loud wind.

“TELL ME WHERE THE BOOK IS, OR I’LL SEND YE TO THE SHARKS!” your bottom lip is quivering, and you’re still debating whether to tell him or not. This was it. You are going to die.

“Wait! Wait!” you say, “I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you!”

“WHAT?” he screams. Apparently, he hasn’t heard you. But his eyes widen as a figure comes from behind and punches him in the face. He gasps and tries to cover himself as the figure kicks at him repeatedly, and you squint your eyes to get a better look.

It’s Jack.

He looks livid, his teeth gritted in the deepest concentration and anger, each of his punches hitting the man with a powerful thrust. His head flies back after each hit, and you try to get back on the boat, being careful not to tip yourself over and fall.

Your eyes are half-open, and you’re trying to stay awake. You see that the man takes out his knife, and you hold your breath, scared out of your wits.

“JACK! WATCH OUT!” Jack quickly blocks the swipe and takes out his sword, sending it into the man’s stomach.

Jack’s eyes are emotionless as he watches the man moan in pain, and he rips the sword out, growling at the limp body before him. He takes the body and throws him over the ship, then kneels next to you.

“Luv?” you shakily look up at him, fear and pain in your eyes. He quickly embraces you and you sob into his shoulder.

“Pet, yer cold, c’mere...” he quickly wraps his arms around you, rubbing his arms down yours, trying to get some heat into your body. He tries to get you up, but you don’t want to move.

“Luv, come on...”

“He wanted the book, Jack! He wanted the book!”

“He did? It doesn’t matter now, he’s dead...” you cling onto him, afraid to let go.

“Jack, what if there are more traitors?”

“There won’t be, Luv... that’s a promise... come on now, let’s get you cleaned up...” he picks you up and you wrap your arms around him, your face buried into his chest.

“How did you know what happened to me?” you whisper.

“Simple, Luv. Yer book was on the ground.”

“Huh?”

“Ye never mistreat yer books. It’s how I knew somethin’ happened. Leavin’ yer books in the rain? Not possible,” he says with a small smile.

“I can’t believe you noticed that,” you mumble.

“I notice everythin’, Pet. Don’t worry. I’ll always be ‘ere when ye need me.”

“Promise?”

“I promise.” he puts you in your small room, and gives you a comforting smile.

“I’ll be right back, Luv. Anna Maria will lend ye some clothes.” he leaves and goes back on deck, glaring at his men.

“Any more of ye gonna betray me?” no answer.

“Good. If any of ye try anythin’ like what jus’ happened...” he let the sentence hang, glaring at the men before him.

“...I’ll make sure ye make a permenant visit to Davy Jones’ Locker.”

* * * *

The next day...

Will scurries across the small shop, grabbing his bag quickly. As soon as he makes it out the door, his eyes are on Elizabeth.

Elizabeth?

What was she doing here?

“What are you doing here?”

“Well, I know you’ll need some company on that ship, and to keep you and Norrington in line.” Will is about to protest, but she places a finger on his lip. The simple touch sends shivers down his spine, and Elizabeth quickly pulls away.

“Just let me come, Will.” he sighs, looking to his left then shrugs.

“All right.”

* * * * *

CHAPTER 8

It’s now the next morning, and you open your eyes groggily, trying to get everything into focus. You yawn and then stop as you remember what happened last night, and you feel terror run through you. You look up as you hear the door open, and force a smile as you see Jack. He grins, walking over to you.

“’Ello, Luv.” he sits right next to you, checking over your two wounds.

“Came to check on ye.”

“Thank you.”

“No problem, Pet. It’ll never happen again to you again.”

“Promise?” he runs his hand slowly down your neck where the small cut is, his face inches from yours.

“Promise,” he whispers. You feel stiff as you feel his hand caress your neck, and you wonder what you should do. Should you give in to the kiss? But then, you are feeling something else....

You no longer wanted Will... you didn’t long for his touch, or wish for him to be here... all you wanted was Jack. And that makes you confused.

Before he kisses you the door opens, and Jack hides his irritation.

“Cap’n!”

“What, Gibbs?!”

“We wanna know where we’re headin’!”

“South,” you say before Jack answers. Gibbs just nods and leaves.

Curse impeccable timing!!!

The moment was now ruined, but Jack didn’t think so.

“Ahem... so where were we...” he tries to kiss you but you are already up, looking at the book.

“This treasure... there must be something behind it...”

This is a first. Jack is now jealous of a dirty, dusty book. He shakes his head and wishes that you would pay attention to him, but as he sees you’re deeply engrossed in it. He just watches you from afar, slyly planning something to win your over.

“So, do you think Will’s coming?”

“Possibly,” he replies.

“And you’re not worried?”

“Pfft? Me? Luv, I’m Jack Sparrow, Captain Jack Sparrow, mind ye. No whelp makes me afraid.”

“Apparently, you’ve never seen him angry.”

“Luv, he’s always angry... I’m almost sure he’s related to Norrington!” you giggle and continue reading, trying to avoid looking at his beautiful smile.

Will looking for you? Yeah right. He’s probably glad you’re gone!

And besides, it’s not like he’s on a ship right now trying to find you!

* * * *

“I hope she knows I’m out trying to find her,” says Will solemnly. Elizabeth takes his hand in hers, smiling assuringly.

“I’m sure she does, Will. She knows you care for her.”

“I hope Jack isn’t doing anything to her!”

“He isn’t! He’s not an evil pirate, Will!”

“Well... he kidnapped her! Who else knows what that man can do!”

“Where do you think they’re going to be?”

“I’m not sure. Norrington said they were going to sail for a bit, see if they can find any ship nearby, and if not, we’re on to Tortuga.”

“Are you sure that’s the safest place to be?” she asks.

“Well, I don’t really care. I just want her to be safe and to come back home. She must be afraid, Elizabeth.”

“Not if she had SEX with him!”

“You can’t prove that!”

“My friends said they did!” she exclaims.

“Well your friends are liars!” Elizabeth huffs and glares at Will.

“No they’re NOT! They’re respectable people, Will!”

“They’re not respectable when they make lies about my best friend!” he shouts, turning and walking away from her, too angry to speak anymore.

* * * *

Night has come, and you light a candle and place down the book. You’ve found out many interesting things inside, but nothing solid yet. But you knew something was wrong, call it intuition if you will. You knew that you’d figure what it is soon.

Your cabin door opens and you turn your head to see who it is.

“G’evenin’!” it was Jack, holding a bottle of some alcoholic beverage.

“Rum I guess?”

“I thought I might share...”

“Uh uh... no drinking, remember?” you glance at him again, and then feel your stomach do flip-flops as you see what he brought out from behind his back.

It’s bandages....

Bandages means cleaning cuts!

Cleaning cuts means....

Alcohol! The evil, burning substance!

He can tell already what you’re planning to do and he jumps in front of the door frame.

“Yer not goin’ anywhere.” you gulp, looking at the rum in his hand.

“Please... don’t! I’m feeling better! You don’t need to clean the cut on my throat! It’s not that bad!”

“Luv, it wasn’t cleaned well. Ye know what that means? Infection could happen.”

“No! No! I mean, come on, that’s your rum! You don’t want to waste it on me do you? No!!”

“Yes! Now sit down!”

“Make me!” you growl, and he grins.

“As ye wish.” he tackles you to the ground and has you pinned, and you struggle within his grip.

“Lemme go!”

“No.”

“Lemme go! You stupid, evil, arrogant, odd-swaying-”

“Ye forgot amazingly charmin’ and handsome.”

“Bleh! Ow ow ow ow ow!” you cry, feeling the alcohol hit your cut.

“It burns!”

“O’ course it does.”

“It burns!”

“Luv-”

“Ow ow ow ow-” you stop as you feel him blow on the cut, and your body stiffens. The position you are in, him being on top of you and you being on the bottom did not help you either.

“Better?” he whispers.

“M-Much.... actually...”

“I have tha healin’ touch,” he says, looking into your eyes. You gulp and don’t know what to say.

“Erm... then you should have considered being in the medical profession...” he grins and kisses you passionately, and you don’t hesitate to kiss back. Your pain is long forgotten and Jack deepens the kiss, running his hands through your hair.

“Wait!” you cry, getting up quickly, making him roll over.

“What?!”

“We can’t!”

“What do ya mean, Luv? I thought ye liked it!”

“Oh, I do!” you say, but then blush as he smiles.

“It’s just... if we do... kiss... this will interfere with the whole adventure!”

“It will?”

“Yes, Jack! It will make matters worse! And the whole thing with Will...” he walks over to you and picks you up, kissing you long and hard.

“Forget Will,” he says huskily.

* * * *

Will is sitting on deck, looking at the dark night sky. Elizabeth comes from behind, placing her hand on his shoulder.

“I’m sorry,” she whispers. Will doesn’t answer.

“Will, please talk to me!”

“Why should I? So you can insult her again?” he snaps, his eyes boring into hers.

“I said I was sorry!”

“Well, that’s not good enough!” he sighs, and then looks away.

“I... I’m sorry. I’m just worried about her, that’s all.”

“As you should be! Don’t worry Will, Norrington says there’s still hope!”

“Maybe,” he says halfheartedly.

* * * *

You break away from the kiss, smiling softly.

“What does this mean, Jack?”

“Whatever ye want it to be....”

“I don’t like to be played with, Jack.”

“I know ye don’t.”

“I... I can’t... think right now... I mean, you and Will... this-”

“Then don’t think about it!” he goes back and kisses you again, but you push him away. Apparently, you could’ve liked five men and Jack wouldn’t have cared in the slightest.

“No! Jack! We can’t!”

“And why the bloody ‘ell not?”

“Because! It’ll interfere with the adventure!”

“It will?”

”Yes! Our involvement could ruin everything! And Will! When he finds out that we kissed... big trouble! And... I don’t want to hurt you!”

“Ye won’t hurt me. So what do ye suggest we do, Pet?” he snakes his arm around your neck but you slap it away.

“Resist! We must resist.” Jack sighs in defeat.

“Yer right.” he gets up and fixes his shirt and makes his way to the door. But as soon as he goes to put his hand on the doorknob he rushes over to you again, kissing you.

“Jack! Resist!”

“I’m tryin’!!”

“No, you’re not!” he growls and gets up, ready to leave. You stand up and watch him walk away, but then you grab him and kiss him. Then you gasp and pull away.

“No!”

“And ye think I’m BAD at resistin’.”

“We must focus on the adventure!”

“Aye. Yer right.” he grabs you and kisses you passionately, and you mumble a response through kisses.

“Strictly professional.”

“But o’ course, Luv,” he says with a smirk.

* * * *

“Have you found anything?” asks Will.

“Nothing yet, Mr. Turner. But, if we don’t find anything we shall head to Tortuga.” he glares and looks away, while Will’s eyes still focus on the Commodore.

“Why are you so angry towards me?”

“I’m not angry, Mr. Turner.”

“Yes you are!”

“Do you wish to know why?” snarls Norrington, and Will backs up a bit, wondering what the Commodore is going to do.

“Because she loves you, not me! Do you know how much that pains me? That she’ll never look at me the way she looks at you?” Will should’ve thought more on bringing Elizabeth along. Will didn’t know how to respond.

“I... I...”

“Just don’t speak, Mr. Turner. Just leave me alone.” Will turns around and walks away, now feeling terrible. As he sits on the other side of the ship, he is left to his thoughts. He remembers the night you kissed him, and he tries to organize his feelings. He didn’t know what to feel. He loves Elizabeth. Not you.

...Right?

He runs his hand through his hair and looks at the floor. Then it hits him.

He not only loves Elizabeth.... he loves you. He stands up anxiously, now looking over at the water. No, this couldn’t be.

“No,” he whispers, “no... this is not right. I love Elizabeth!”

If that’s so true, how come it didn’t sound genuine?

* * * *

“Cap’n!” came a voice from afar. You break away from Jack, eyes wide.

“Be right back, Pet.” he disappears from your sight, and you feel something awful in your chest. You now loved two men. You feel so guilty, because you know you can’t have both of them, and you know you’ll have to choose soon. But you know you are not ready to decide.

“Stick to the adventure... focus...” before you can say anything else, Jack appears again.

“Guess what, Pet?”

“What?”

“We’ve arrived to the island.”

* * * * *

CHAPTER 9

“Really?”

“Aye! C’mon!” you grin and make your way to the deck, and Jack is getting impatient.

“Well, come on then. Let’s go get our treasure!” his crew screams enthusiastically, and soon you are on the island.

“Does it say where the treasure is, Luv?” you just nod and look at your book, trying to find the accurate place where the treasure is.

“Hold on...” you mumble quietly to yourself as you read the words, and the crew watches you intently.

“Two steps here... three to the right....” after a few minutes you find the place, smiling victoriously.

“It’s here! It’s here!” Jack stumbles towards you and they feel the hidden compartment beneath them.

“Just like the time I was mutinied,” Jack whispers. He lifts up the small trap door and you get the first peek inside. You disappear but then reappear again, a grim look on your face.

“What, Luv? Not enough to go around?”

“No, Jack. Worse.”

“What?”

“There’s nothing there,” you reply, “someone has beaten us to it. It’s gone! All of it!”

“Impossible!” cries Gibbs.

“Not impossible!” you say quickly, “a man was on the Black Pearl searching for the treasure and the book. Who knows how many people have been searching for this!”

“Then we have but one other place to go,” Jack says, swaying back to his ship.

“Where?” you ask curiously.

“Tortuga! All aboard, men!”

* * * *

“This is impossible! We’re never going to find her!” Will shouts. The hope of finding you is wearing thin, and Will is left to his crazy imagination of what can be happening to you. He hears footsteps behind him and he turns around, coming face to face with Elizabeth.

“Hello,” he says curtly.

“I’m sorry, Will.” Will turns around, looking at the horizon.

“Please Will, forgive me. It was not my place to say those things about your friend.”

“You’re right it wasn’t!” he quickly glances at her, and she tries to apologize again. Will’s expression softens as he sees the sincereity in her eyes.

“It’s all right Elizabeth. I’m sorry too. I’m just worried to death! I’m starting to think we’ll never find her!”

“We will, Will. We will.”

“Mr. Turner... Elizabeth...” says a voice behind them. It is Norrington, his face emotionless as always.

“Yes, Commodore?”

“We’re heading to Tortuga. If we do not find her there, well, you are on your own.” he walks away quickly, leaving a pale Will and a silent Elizabeth.

* * * *

The days pass by quickly on the way to Tortuga, and you finally arrive!

“We’re here, Luv!”

“Why here, of all places?” you ask, thanking Jack quietly for passing the book for you.

“Because thieves and murderers reside here!”

“And?”

“And, that if ye wish to find anythin’ about treasure, people, or anythin’ else, ye go here. It’s the one stop! If we can’t find information here, we’ll never find the treasure!”

You gulp as you look around at the people, forcing a smile.

“Eh... whatever you say, Jack.”

“Ye know, I said this ta Will a bit ago..if every place were like this, no man would ever feel unwanted.” he winks and you roll your eyes, but watch with interest as you see Jack walk down a different street.

“Jack, what’s wrong with that street?”

“Erm... nevermind that Luv, come on...” truth is, he saw some women he’s er... seen more than once on occasion that he did not wish to see.

And to not get a beating.

“C’mon, Pet. I know someone who can help us.”

“And what is his name?”

“His name is Luke.”

“Luke?”

“Mhmmm...” was the reply as he opens a door. You hold on tighter to Jack as you see all the people staring at you, but Jack isn’t the slightest intimidated.

“Where be Luke?” a few point upstairs and Jack hums as he walks, and you shake your head at him.

“I can’t believe you’re not worried about the people here!”

“What’s wrong with em’?”

“I think they’re going to try and kill us! The way they’re looking at us!”

“Yer exaggeratin’, Pet.” he winks and wiggles his eyebrows.

“Well, ye know they have quite a bit o’ room here... maybe we can... hmm... rest a bit. We have been on a long journey ye know.” he grins and snakes his hands around your waist, his eyes watching you with utmost attention.

“Uh uh. We came all this way to see this man, and I almost got killed for this book,” you say, lightly hitting him on the head.

“So no break?”

“No break, Jack.”

“Yer no fun!”

“And you’re very impatient! Come on!” you knock on the door and some shuffling is heard, and while you wait for the man to answer you are swatting Jack’s hands several times.

“Jack! Stoppit!”

“Come on!”

“Stop whining!”

“I’m not whining!” you just giggle but then stop as you see the mysterious person open the door. His eyes are a dark cold blue, his lips pursed finely across his face. He seems to be in his mid-forties, and has many wrinkles.

“Sparrow?”

“Luke!” Jack says with a grin, his arms open wide, “been a long time, Mate!”

Luke smiles back, revealing gold teeth and some rotten ones, and you flinch mentally in disgust.

“Ah! Jack! It’s been a long time!”

“Aye, it has!”

“So what brings you here?”

“Well... long story... I think it’s best if we talk in the room, hmm?” Luke just grunts and nods, leaving the door open for you both to follow. Jack quietly shuts the door and you quickly take a seat, wanting to get out of the small room fast.

“So what is it that brings ye here?”

“Treasure.”

“Ah... I should have known.”

“Give him the book,” whispers Jack, and you give it to Luke. Luke runs through the pages quickly, then gives it back.

“Forget it. Do not try to get the treasure back.”

“What?! What do you mean?” you shout, irritation growing in your voice. This man is making you angry! You travel all this way for it, and you certainly are NOT going back.

“What she said, mate,” says Jack.

“The treasure holds unspeakable power!”

“Yeah, yeah, can ye tell us where it is?”

“You shall certainly be killed!”

“And when did ye become a fortune teller, hmm?” says Jack with a hint of sarcasm.

“Trust me on this, lad, this is not worth going after!” suddenly screams can be heard downstairs, and you gulp.

“What’s going on?!”

“Be right back, Luv, don’t move! Stay!” commands Jack, running out of the room and downstairs towards the pub.

“Hmmmph! I’m not a dog!” you growl, scowling. Your attention is once again focusing on Luke.

“Tell me where it is.”

“Never!” Luke glares at you, but you continue talking.

“How can you know where it is?!”

“Because, Milady, there are many people after it!”

“Who?!” your patience is growing thin, and your agitation is clearly showing.

“Commodore Norrington for one.” you feel your throat tighten and your eyes unfocusing.

“What?” you whisper.

“Aye, cannot believe it myself. But I’m sure he has his own reasons.”

“What are they?” you ask. He shakes his head.

“Do not know the man, but I’m sure it is out of revenge or for power.” he stops speaking for a moment, then continues.

“The treasure has... an unspeakable power... for if the power is unleashed... Hell and earth shall coincide.”

“You mean-”

“Yes,” he whispers, interrupting you, “Hell shall reign on earth, and demons shall walk among us, and the earth shall be no more, but a vessel for Lucifer’s followers.”

“We have to stop it then!”

“Ah, your heart is in the right place, but what of your mind?” you tilt your head curiously towards him, and he continues.

“You wish to save the world... but when you come face to face with the treasure... which will you choose? The riches of the world? Or the living?”

“I shall choose the living.”

“Then may God be with you. But there is something else...”

“What?” suddenly a loud crash is heard, and Luke rushes from his seat, glancing at his window nearby.

“The British Navy!”

“What?!” what are they doing here?

“Leave!” he hisses to you, “go!”

“But-”

“No! Go now!”

“But you must finish what you were telling me!” he doesn’t answer you as he grabs his gun and runs out of the room.

“Wait! Argh!” you cry in frustration, quickly grabbing the book and leaving, trying to find Jack.

“Jack? Jack!” you hiss, but then feel your eyes widen as someone puts their hand over your mouth.

“Do not scream,” says a somewhat familiar voice, “I promise I shall not hurt you.” you nod dumbly and turn around, your mouth in the shape of an ‘o’.

“Norrington?” he smiles at you, nodding.

“Indeed, Milady. We have been traveling all over for you! And now that we have found you, it is time to take you home.” you can’t help but lose all trust towards him and you back away.

“No.” what Luke said in the room before makes you wonder if this man is worthy to be trusted.

“No? Miss, we are taking you home! We have saved you from those wretched pirates! We must leave quickly, they are growing in numbers!”

“But...”

“We must leave,” he whispers, his hand making its way to your shoulder, his grip tightening.

“But-”

“We shall discuss this later.” he grabs your hand and leads you back to the ship, and you break away from his tight hold.

“Let me go!” he does as he is told, and you end up falling on the deck, the book falling out of your hands. He looks at it for a moment, and you snatch it up.

“Where are we going?”

“Home,” he replies, and disappears from your view, gathering his men.

“This is not good!” you cry, getting up and making your way towards the lower part of the ship. Before you make it halfway down you hear a familiar voice.

“Let me go! Where is she?”

“Jack!” you whisper, coming back up onto the deck once again.

“That is none of your concern,” snaps one officer, tightening his hold on Jack. Jack grimaces but says nothing, but then smiles as he sees you.

“Luv!” you see the officer’s confused face, and then look at the handsome pirate before you. If you told him you are with Jack, then you’d both be hanged, and no one could save the people!

But if....

You quickly go into action, a plan already forming in your head.

“Damn you!” you screech, slapping him harshly across the face, “damn you to the deepest pits of Hell, you rotten, dirty-”

“That’s enough Miss, you’ve been through alot. Don’t waste your time on this criminal!” says the officer gently, taking your hand and leading you in the opposite direction, leaving a confused Jack.

Don’t worry! you mouth to Jack, but apparently, he can’t read lips that well, and he rolls his eyes at you. You are now far from Jack’s viewing range, and feel your knees give out.

There, standing in front of you, is Will. The moonlight is cascading onto his face, illuminating his features. His long brown hair is unruly, but you don’t care. You thought that you were over him, that all feelings you have had for him was gone, but just looking at the mere sight of his face brought all old emotions back, and you feel that familiar pang in your heart.

“Will,” you say in a soft voice, barely able to say his name. He turns around, his eyes wide. He says your name and rushes over to you, still not believing that you are in his presence.

“You’re here... you’re really here...”

“Yeah...” you start to blush and you curse silently to yourself. You hate your shyness!

“I thought... I thought...” he couldn’t finish and he places one of his calloused hands upon yours, and you gulp.

“Nothing happened to me Will... I’m all right...” he slid his hand up from your hand to your forearm, then to your cheek.

“I’m sorry...”

“For what?” you ask. Now this was confusing.

Will being apologetic? For being rude and inconsiderate? Well, that was- your thoughts are interrupted as he kisses you, his arms wrapping around you quickly. The kiss was so passionate, and filled with longing. As he breaks away you look at him like he’s grown two heads.

“I’m sorry,” he repeats, “for not telling you how I felt about the kiss that night...” you go to interrupt him, but he overrides you.

“I’m sorry for not telling you in the first place... I love you.”

* * * * *

CHAPTER 10

“What?” you gasp, backing away.

“I said I love your was just too blind to realize how much I cared for you.”

“No... no, I can’t deal with this right now...” you go to turn around, but Will grabs you.

“What do you mean? I thought you feel the same way!”

“I don’t know anymore, Will!” you shout, quickly getting away from his hold, “you weren’t there for me when my shop was torn to pieces, you stood me up...” he looks away, eyes full with guilt. But you don’t care. He deserves this!

“So no, I’m not sure if I’m ready to go in open arms with this!” you walk away, anger inside you. You want him, but you don’t... Jack is always there for youth helped you, he gave you more meaning to your life... but then there was Will.

You scream in frustration seeing Will follow you.

“Will, why don’t you-”

“Will, where are you?” your eyes widen as you see... HER... Elizabeth! What was SHE doing here? You glare at Will, and he tries to explain.

“She-”

“Save it Will. You and her make a better couple anywise.” you leave and Elizabeth takes his hand in hers, smiling comfortingly.

“She’ll turn around.”

“I hope so.”

“Do you-”

“No Elizabeth... I want to be alone.” he walks away, leaving her alone in the night.

* * * *

And so the next few days pass, and you finally arrive on land. You stayed away from Will the whole time, unable to be near him, because everywhere he is, Elizabeth is.

But you will get Jack out soon. You just need a plan.

You turn around and quietly thank Norrington.... VERY reluctantly.

“Thank you, Commodore, for saving me.” he smiles, taking your hand in his.

“It is no problem, Milady. Will was very worried about you.”

“Oh really?” you ask. Hmm...

“Yes, very. He’s very happy to see that you’re alive and unharmed.”

“Well, thank you once again.” he nods and leaves, and you also go your own way. As soon as you get to your shop, Will arrives just moments later. He says your name and you place down the book you have in your hand.

“What, Will?”

“Did you...” he stops, almost embarrassed to ask a question.

“Just tell me, Will.”

“Did you have sex with Jack?” you glare at him, feeling a blush creep into your cheeks.

“What did you just say?”

“Did... you sleep with... Jack?”

“Why would you ask such a thing?” you ask, fixing some books and slamming them down on the counter. He winces but continues.

“Elizabeth said-”

“Oh, so ELIZABETH said it, therefore it’s TRUE, right?” your eyes watch him warily, almost daring him to try to defend himself.

“No, you see-”

“See what, Will?”

“She said that a few women that came into your shop heard you and Jack having sex behind the counter! Now what’s going on?!”

“What do you mean what’s going on?!”

“You say he kidnaps you, but he was here a day before you were kidnapped, in your shop? HAVING SEX WITH YOU?!”

Oh no....this is NOT good.

Now you’re getting angry. You pick up a book and look at him with a mischievous look in your eye, almost enjoying this moment.

“And if I did have sex with him?” he gapes at you, and you hide a smile.

“You... you did?”

“It’s none of your business if I did or not!”

“Listen-”

“No, YOU listen! I’m sick of the people here, spreading things about me! And you’re just as bad as them for believing them! You don’t care about my well-being!”

“I DO!” his voice is rising ever so slowly, but you’re not afraid of him.

“What, are you jealous?” you sneer. He looks at you, trying to find the words to say.

“Yes,” he whispers. Okay, you just ran out of smart comments to say, because this, well... is VERY unexpected.

“Will, I-”

“When I heard he kidnapped you, I... I was so angry, because I don’t know what he’s capable of anymore! And then I hear you had sex with him in this shop-”

“There we go again with the accusations!” all sympathy towards him just flew out the window. He growls and grabs your hand, and you try to get away.

“Don’t touch me!”

“No!” he shouts, “not until we discuss this!”

“Well, if you think I had sex with Jack, what is going on between you and Elizabeth?” now it’s his turn to be shocked.

“What?!”

“What was she doing on that ship? Moral support I assume?” you say hotly.

“If you think that-”

“Will, you’ve been in love with her since God knows when! Don’t lie to me!”

“Don’t lie to you?!” he shouts, his fists clenching with anger, “don’t lie to me! Tell me the truth!”

“What truth, Will?”

“Did you have sex with Jack? What’s going on!?” his face was inches from yours, and there is hardly any light in the room, just a few candles that are lit. You look into his chocolate brown eyes, now finding it very hard to breathe. His hair is sweeping over his face, and you fight every fiber in your being not to lift your hand and brush the stray hairs away.

“I... Will... what do you think? Do you think I had sex with him?” you try to avoid the last question... that didn’t have to be answered just yet.

“Well... No...”

“I didn’t have sex with him, Will.” he backs away and you eye him quizzically.

“Then why did you make me get all angry?!” he asks, his eyes wide with irritation.

“Because it’s one of my sick and twisted hobbies.”

“Well,” he says, “whatever happened is going to be taken care of tomorrow.”

“What’s going to happen tomorrow?” you ask curiously.

“Jack and his crew are being hanged tomorrow.” you fight back your shock and Will comes closer.

“I thought I knew him, but he surprised me by doing this...” you gulp, now knowing time is running out.

“Will... I want to apologize...” your hands grip something behind you, and Will quirks an eyebrow.

“Apologize? For what?” you grab the object behind you and swing it across his face, effectively sending him into unconsciousness. You see it’s the large dictionary you hit Jack with, and you look at Will.

“For doing that,” you reply. You drop the book and run out of the store.

* * * *

“We’re gonna be hanged tomorrow! Does yer new lass know this?” growls Anna Maria.

“Listen, Luv, she’ll save us...”

“You don’t sound too confident.”

“Be quiet!” he shouts, effectively shutting her up.

* * * *

As you walk through the empty streets, you mumble to yourself.

“Oh no, I hit Will! Now I KNOW something’s wrong with me! Ugh, I’m going to end up being hanged...” you stop in your tracks, an idea forming.

“Norrington,” you mumble. You head towards his home, staying in the shadows. Maybe he knows something. Of course he does, he’s evil!

You hear a sound and place your body against the wall, your fear of getting caught intensifying. You strain your ears to listen to the voices inside the house.

“Did you ask Sparrow about the treasure?”

“Yes. I know for a fact he was after the same thing,” replies Norrington. Your eyes widen and you listen closely.

“What of the girl?”

“The bookstore owner? Kill her. She knows too much. Do it before the hanging tomorrow.” you cover your mouth and fight the wave of nausea starting to form.

“When will we head to the island?” asks Gillette.

“Soon.”

“Do you have the coordinates?” Norrington says them out loud and you try your best to remember it, then make your way to the jail.

* * * *

Jack sighs, trying to come up with a better idea.

“Don’t worry, we’ll be out soon.” the officer nearby scoffs.

“I don’t think so, Sparrow. You’ll be dead soon enough.” another guard comes downstairs, and the man grins.

“’Bout time you came here! My shift was over fifteen minutes ago! You ready to handle ‘em if anything goes wrong?” the guard nods, and stands near the cells, and the other leaves.

“Yer pretty quiet fer a guard,” says Jack. Oh well. He might as well piss as many people as he can. He’s dying tomorrow anyways.

The guard smirks and turns around, lifting the hat from their head, long hair cascading down their shoulders.

“LUV!” he exclaims, and you grin. You have to admit, this plan is good. Cookies to you!

“You better be thankful. I hit Will with a book and knocked a guard unconscious just to save you guys!”

“So that means... ye choose me over him, Pet?” he grins, his face inching closer near the bars and you roll your eyes.

“Even near the last hours of your life, you think about sex.”

“And rum!” he adds. You snicker and search the area for keys, then dangle them once they are found.

“This is easy... a little too easy... Do you know where the Pearl is?” he shrugs.

“Nearby I persume.”

“That helps, Jack.”

“I know, doesn’t it?” he grins. You unlock the door for both of the cells, the crew running out and finding the Pearl. Jack grins as you toss him his guns, and you turn around to leave...

You gasp as you see a pistol right in your face, and Jack stiffens at the sight.

“You are right, Milady,” smirks Norrington, “this is too easy.”
