SAVVY? Author: MrsPitt Disclaimer: I don't own PotC or any of the characters. Summary: Things take a dramatic twist when you find yourself being friends with Captain Jack Sparrow, who comes to your aid when you are mere seconds from death. The attraction is definitely there, but what happens when the town finds out? And an arranged marriage?! The adventure never ends when you're with Jack Sparrow. * * * * * CHAPTER 1 You sigh as you open your eyes, rubbing them quickly, trying to get the sleep out of them. The sun has already risen, and you hope you haven’t slept in. You race to put on some clothes and hurry downstairs, grabbing an apple. A voice is heard in the room, and you’re startled. “Good morning! My, it’s almost noon!” the voice said, shaking his head back and forth. You smile as you recognize who it is. “Father!” you say happily, hugging him tightly. He pats your back affectionately. “There, there. So what are your plans for the day?” “I’m not sure,” you reply honestly, shrugging. Your father laughs, taking a sip of his orange juice. “Well, go on then, have fun.” you grin and nod. You quickly place a kiss on your father’s cheek, and then run out the door. “Bye, father!” “And stay away from those pirates!” he waves and then you are out of his sight, and into the large crowd. It’s a few hours later, and you haven’t found anything to do. You’re bored out of your wits, and you only saw a few of your friends. Sure, you had conversation but you really weren’t paying attention. As you’re walking along the busy streets of Port Royale, you glance at the people around you. You see a man with long, dark hair, with braids and all sorts of things running through it. He had dark mysterious eyes, and a charming smile. But he was sort of tipsy, his hands waving around as if he was telling a very good story. At least the people around him were amused. You smirk as you see him sway a bit more, almost losing his balance. You keep walking down the cobblestone road until you see a few men arguing. You do not want to get involved, so you quickly head back into the other direction. But as you turn around you bump into someone, falling to the ground. You hear the person cursing loudly, and obviously, he’s upset. “I’m so sorry-” you start to say, but then you glance at his sword on his side. It had dried blood on it. You gulp, trying to push down the nervousness running through your system. The man was holding very delicate objects, because there was glass everywhere. You didn’t know what they were but knew they were very expensive because the man was screaming at you hysterically. “Listen, I’m so-” he didn’t seem to care what you’re saying, and pulls out his bloodied sword. You try to scream, but find it heard to breathe, hard to do anything. As he brought his sword down you move quickly, the blade narrowly missing you. “Next time you won’t be as lucky!” he snarls, and you know he’ll make sure you won’t have any time to dodge his blow. He gets ready, and you try to defend yourself, but have nothing to fight with. Attempting to punch him would not do very much, since you hardly know how to fight. You were about to scream when a hand from behind the burly man appeared, stopping him from carrying out his plan to slaughter you. “Now, now, that’s not very nice,” said the voice, kicking him in the back, effectively making him drop his weapon. You gasp and look at the man, and he gives you a cheeky smile, revealing his gold teeth. Then your eyes widened. “You’re the man near the port!” “Were ya spyin’ on me, Luv?” he said with a wink, causing you to blush a dark crimson. You try to defend yourself, until you see the burly man get up, very angry. “Watch out!” you cry, hoping this mysterious man wouldn’t get himself hurt. The man took out his sword and they began to duel, and they both were equally good. A few moments later the stranger hit the burly man with the butt of his sword, effectively sending him into unconsciousness. You glance at this person who saved you, and he once again grinned, putting away his sword. “Thank you,” you say, hoping that you’re not blushing. “Yer welcome, milady, but what’s a girl like you hangin'’ aroun’ with pirates?” “Uh... I bumped into him. He got angry and attacked me.” “Ah. Why didn’t you protect yerself?” “I don’t know how,” you say, now feeling both ashamed and embarrassed. The man sighed, looking around, as if in deep thought. “Well then, I’ll have ta teach ye.” “What?” your eyes were wide in surprise. “You ‘eard me.” “Really?” you say, excited. You didn’t care if he was a pirate, he seemed pretty nice. And pretty handsome. But of course you wouldn’t tell him that. “But o’ course! It’s my duty you know... to help damsels in distress... An’ all that sort.” he was moving his hands around, and you giggle. “Plus, I’ve got nothin’ better ta do on this bloody island. So, here’s the plan, luv. You bring the rum-” “Rum?” you say curiously, and he grins, putting his arm around your shoulder. “Yes, the rum. And I’ll brin’ my wonderful, charmin’ self.” he comes closer, his lips just a few mere centimeters from your ear. “Savvy?” he whispers huskily, and you blush again, and you try not to gawk like a retard. “Savvy,” you whisper. He grins, and brings his arm down. He tells you where to meet him and you watch him walk away, wondering what you have gotten yourself into. “Wait!” you shouted, and he stopped in his tracks, turning around. “Yeah?” “What’s your name?” “My name?” you nod meekly. “My name is Jack Sparrow. Cap’n Jack Sparrow.” you smile, and he smiles back. “What’s yers?” You quietly tell him your name and he nods. He tipped his hat, then spoke. “See ya in a bit...” he grins, “milady.” * * * * * CHAPTER 2 You sigh and tap your feet, looking around the area you’re in. It looks pretty dusty and old, and you start to wonder if anyone knows that it exists. The floor is very dirty, but you don’t seem to care. You were too excited! As you glance at the two bottles of rum in your hand, you start to feel confused. He hadn’t tricked you, had he? Because you believed him fully. As soon as that thought entered your mind, you hear a familiar voice. “Why so glum, luv? Thinkin’ I wouldn’t show?” “Of course not,” you lie, but he only smiles at you. He glances at the bottles of rum, and he quirks an eyebrow, putting them in his hands. “Aye. Expensive brand. Very nice taste, Luv.” “Thank you,” you say softy. He grins and passes you a sword. “Ready to learn?” you look at the sword, then back at his piercing dark eyes. “Yeah,” you whisper. And then the training began, and you couldn’t help but enjoy it after a few minutes. “Ah... here, gimmie yer hand...” your eyes widen as his calloused hands touched yours, and you feel butterflies all in your stomach. Who knew that such a simple touch could do so much? “Yer holdin’ it wrong,” he whispers softly, making your hands hold the sword the correct way. You dare not look him in the eye and you stay silent, for you are too nervous to speak. But after that you were doing quite well, and he made it seem so easy, so you were thankful for that. “Now, it’s goin’ to get a tad bit more difficult.” “Difficult?” “Yes. Now do what I’ve taught ya.” you start to move as his sword clashes against yours, but you are getting way too nervous. He stops and stares at you for a minute, and you look away. “Yer tense. Relax. ‘Ere.” you see him pass a bottle to you, but you shake your head. “No thank you, I don’t drink.” “Ah, more fer me.” he grins devilishly and takes a long swig, and you shake your head. “Do you always drink this much?” you ask. “Nah.” you felt somewhat better. “I usually drink more on the weekend.” he winks, and you roll your eyes, a smile dancing across your face. After a few more moments you start to train again, with Jack occassionally stopping to drink some rum. He starts to get that familiar sway again, and you giggle. He smiles at you, and lifts up his sword. “And now, we duel again!” you start to fight once more, and you seem to be getting better with each duel that you do. Your footwork is getting much smoother, and you feel somewhat calmer around your new friend. “You sure you don’t want any?” he asks, holding the bottle of rum. You had to admit it was starting to get very tempting. “O-Ok.” he grins and passes you the bottle, and you take a swig, wincing as the weird taste made its way down your throat. “That’s the spirit!” he shouts, grinning. You laugh, and he gets into a stance. “Again, we duel!” you nod and you begin to fight again, and taking more sips of your rum along the way. Later on you start to realize that you can’t hold your liquor, and you’re starting to sway like Jack. He doesn’t notice this as he’s too drunk to begin with. As you continue to duel, you start to get very clumsy. You move forward to try and make a good swipe, but lose your balance, falling towards Jack. He drops his sword to catch you, and your body collides with his. With a loud “oof!” you both fall to the ground, and you blush furiously, seeing how close his wonderful lips were near yours. “Sorry,” you whisper, feeling strange sensations run through your body. “Nothin’ to be sorry fer, Milady,” he whispers back, his arm snaking around your waist, bringing you closer to him. You feel your heartbeat start to go faster, and you can’t believe this is happening to you. He looks as eager as you to kiss, and he licks his lips hungrily, his eyes studying yours. He brings his hand up to your face and traces your jaw line with his finger. You know he’s slowly torturing you, and you’re wondering whether to be enjoying this or strangling him. As soon as he was just a mere few centimeters away, a loud bang is heard. You scream and he gets up, ready to fight whoever had caused the noise. He saw that it was a large pot from an old shelf nearby that had caused the noise, and you glare evilly at the object for breaking the moment between you and Jack. He started swaying again, and he looks at the pot as if waiting for it to do something interesting. “Jack?” he shakes is head and looks away from the pot, then winks at you. “Yes, Luv?” “Is that it for today?” “Do ya want it to be?” this must be a trick question. “No,” you say honestly. He grins boyishly, making his way over to you. As you watch him walk over, you can’t help but admire how handsome he is, even when he’s drunk. In fact, if it’s possible, you think it accents his rugged features. He’s now close to you, and he has a mischievous look on his face. “Ay, the sun’s almost gone. Ye better be headin’ back. It’s been a long day. We’ll meet again here tomorrow?” Stupid sun, you think to yourself. Well, you’re not going to let him go that easily. “Well...” you start to say, “I wonder if that man will come back. Do you think you can walk me home?” your lie was so good that you almost believed it! Cookies to you! He was studying you for a few minutes, but you look determined. “Can’t ye protect yerself now?” he grinned. “Well, no...I think you’d do a better job at protecting me. I mean, I only did this for one day. Why you, you have so much experience.” Did he actually believe this? Plus he’s drunk, so it’s a little easier to convince him. “Ay, I shall walk ye home. Don’t need no surprises now, eh?” he winked, and then linked your arm with his. You smile, enjoying his arms around yours. As you walk home you giggle along the way, for Jack was talking and muttering some things you couldn’t understand, but you still thought it was cute. His hands were moving around in an unusual fashion, and you smiled again. To your dismay, you finally arrive back to your house. The sun is almost gone, and you take one more glance at this wonderful man before you. “Thank you for walking me home,” you say softly, looking at your hands. He brings his hand to your chin, making you look at him. “It was no problem, Luv.” you blush, but then you cover your mouth in horror. Your father’s nearby! He calls your name, and you wonder what you’re going to do about Jack. You look at Jack, and then with all your might you push him into the large bushes, ignoring his muffled cries. “Bloody ‘ell!” “What was that?” you hear your father shout, looking out the window. You freeze, and try to think of something. “Nothing, father! Just the wind!” he just nods and disappears, while you sigh in relief. “Wind? Pfft. Wind my arse.” You kick the bushes as to tell him to shut up, and people that are walking by look at you as if you’ve grown another head. But then again, it’s not everyday you see someone kicking bushes. “Well, hurry up! Dinner’s almost ready!” “I’ll be there in a few minutes!” you exclaim, pulling Jack out from the bushes. He starts to sway as he gets up, and you giggle. He has leaves and twigs all in his hair, and he only mutters something you can’t understand. “Sorry Jack,” you say honestly. He shrugs. “S’all right, Luv. Well, I mus’ be off. ‘Til we meet again...” he takes your hand and brushes his lips against it, making you shudder inwardly. He let his lips linger for a few more seconds before walking away, and you sigh. Could this be love? Of course not! He’s a pirate, and you’re a respectable woman! Those two do not go together in any way or sort! But you can’t help but be attracted to him, for everything about him entices you, makes you want to be with him. You walk inside your house and eat dinner quickly, for you want the night to end and a new morning to begin. * * * * * CHAPTER 3 The sun’s rays start to hit your eyes and you groan, hiding under your bed sheets. As soon as you realize what you’re doing you hop out of bed. You were seeing Jack again! You giggle excitedly, rushing to get dressed and hurry downstairs, getting yet again another apple. You glance around to see if your father is in the kitchen, but he isn’t. You shrug and glance at the clock, and you start to scream in frustration. You would be meeting Jack in THREE hours! What’s a girl to do in the meantime? * * * * Two and a half hours later you are finally set to go see Jack! You rush out of the house, trying to hide your excitement. Flashes of what happened the night before run through your mind, and you sigh happily. You make it back t the old run down place you met before, and you grin as you see Jack taking a long swig of rum. “Hi Jack!” you say happily, and he winks. “Glad yer happy to see me, Luv. Ready fer some training?” “Yes.” he nods and gets up, reluctantly putting his rum down. You see him looking at it longingly and giggle. You finally start dueling, and you can’t help but enjoy being in Jack’s company. “All right, Lass. We’re takin’ a break.” he smiles drunkenly and pats the space next to him. A rush of adrenaline goes through you and you quickly take a seat. “Hi,” you say dumbly. He laughs heartily and puts his arm around you. “Yer cute.” you blush and look away, making his grin only widen. “Um... thanks?” he gives you a bottle of rum, but you push it away. “Oh no... I cannot hold my liquor.” “You jus’ need some practice, thas’ all.” you roll your eyes and watch him take another swig. “Well, Jack... thanks for teaching me... you know, this, but-” “But what, Luv?” “I want to give you something in return! You know, you teach me something, I teach you something!” He didn’t answer, but was looking as if in deep thought. “What can ye teach me?” “Uh... I don’t know.” he grinned, taking a sip of his drink. “How about I teach you to dance?” Jack spit out his drink, coughing. You pat him on the back quickly, trying to get him to breathe. “What?!” he sputters. You start to laugh hysterically, and cover your mouth to subdue your giggles. “You want to teach me to dance?” you nod. “Like those sissy men?” “They’re NOT sissy men! Women happen to like men who dance!” you say defensively. “But I get enough women without knowin’ how to dance!” “Fine!” you huff, glaring at him. He didn’t have to be so rude. “What?” he says, seeing your angry face. “A simple ‘no’ would have been sufficient, not ‘like those sissy men!’” “Sorry, Luv!” “Grr...” “Well...” he starts to ponder this idea. If he said yes, he could be around you more longer! “Aye. You can teach me how to dance....” he says with a forced smile. Sissy dancing. Bleh. But at least you’d be teaching him! “Really?” you say, your eyes lighting up. “Aye.” you grin and give him a hug, which he happily returns. You train for a little while more before Jack stops you, putting away his sword. “Ah, ye did well, Lass. I’ll treat ye to a drink!” “A drink? Jack, you’ve already drank from two bottles of rum!” “And yer point is?” you roll your eyes, walking outside with him. “But I can’t hold my liquor!” “Then we’ll get ye somethin’ light.” he grins and gives you a wink, and you can’t help but adore his seductful swaying. As soon as you entered the pub you instantly regret it. It’s very intimidating, seeing so many men who look like they’re about to kill. You stay very close to Jack, hoping he’ll get only one drink and then you both can go somewhere else. He orders something for you and him, and you sigh. “You never been in one o’ these places before, have ye?” “No... I haven’t,” you say honestly, glancing around. “Well, Lass, you have nothin’ to worry about. Relax! I’m Captain Ja-” “JACK SPARROW!” boomed a voice across the pub. Everyone now is silent, and you gulp. “Aye?” said Jack, not the least bit intimidated. “You took me money! You STOLE from me!” “Can’t quite remember ya, mate. Think ye got the wrong man.” the man growled and came at a fast pace, and Jack left some money on the table. “Time to go, Luv!” he said, grabbing your hand and rushing out of the pub. You glance back and see there’s not only one man chasing you, but three. “Jack, there’s three of them!” “Three?” “Yes, three!” “Eh, that’s not good.” “Thank you for pointing that out.” “Yer welcome. Happy to oblige.” you run down several alleys, still hearing their screams. Jack looks around frantically, his hands moving about. “’Ere!” he pushed you and him into tight spot in an alley, and you hoped his idea would work. The alley was very dark, and you hear the men coming closer. You squeeze your eyes shut, clinging to Jack’s shirt. He knows you’re scared and he pulls you closer. He was about to say something when the men went by, and you held your breath, afraid to move. They stayed there for a few moments before disappearing. You give a shaky sigh, and then gulp. You’re very close to Jack.... you look up and see him smiling, and he quirks a suggestive eyebrow. “Whenever I’m with you, Jack, you always manage to get us into some sticky situations.” “’Ell, can’t say yer never bored aroun’ me. And ye can’t say ye don’t enjoy my company either.” “That’s very true,” you say boldly. He grins at your comment, his dark eyes studying you. “I can take that in a lot of ways, Luv.” you grin and tug on his two braids on his chin. “Well, you’re a mystery, Jack. You’re...” “Unpredictable?” “Yeah,” you whisper. “I get that a lot,” he says huskily. You feel his hands move up your back, and you can’t help but enjoy the moment. You are very short compared to him, so you stand on your tip-toes, now looking at him eye-to-eye. “I bet you do,” you say in the same tone. He grinned. “I think I’m havin’ a bad influence on ya, Milady.” you laugh quietly, tracing his lips with your fingers. You realize what you’re doing and go to remove your hand, but he stops you. You feel your breath caught in your throat as he kisses your fingers softly. “JACK!” says the familiar voice, startling you both, “I KNOW YOU’RE HERE!” Jack grins at you, then winks. “Time to go, Luv!” you head back on the opposite end of the alley, then run as fast as you can back to your house. You come back to the familiar spot where you were the night before, and you feel a pang in your heart. You hate to see him go. “Tomorrow then?” he asks. “Yes,” you say softly. Before he could say anything you quickly kiss him on the cheek. “Goodnightseeyoutomorrow!” you exclaim, going into your house. Jack watched with wide eyes, just standing and watching your front door. “G’night,” he whispers. He turns around and starts to slowly make his way back to his ship, millions of thoughts running through his mind. “Me and her?” he mumbles, “never work out.... I’m a pirate, she’s a repressable... recessable... no, that’s not it...” he mutters many words and when he makes it back to his bed, he sighs. “...renewable? No... bloody ‘ell! I’m too drunk!” he says to no one in particular, and he closes his eyes, falling into a dreamless slumber. * * * * * CHAPTER 4 “Thought you’d never come,” you say to him with a smile. He grins and takes your hand. “I was... fashionably late, Luv.” you glance at his attire and quirk an eyebrow. He wore old black pants and his trademark boots, along with an old white long sleeved shirt, and his old hat. “Sure, sure,” you say with a laugh. He walks slowly towards you, taking your hand and kissing it softly. “You look beautiful,” he tells you. You blush and look away. You seem to be doing that alot lately. He softly kisses your cheek and you turn to look back at him. You glance at his lips and then back to his eyes, and you see a sly smile start to form on his mouth. The wind starts to blow softly, making his shirt ripple, revealing his tan, muscular chest. “Jack?” you say slowly, watching him closer to your face. “Yes?” he replies. His voice sounds scruffy, and you can’t help but feel even more nervous. You didn’t have time to say anything as he ends the space between you and him, kissing you tenderly. You’re taken off guard, but soon return the kiss. As soon as you break away, he disappears and your eyes widen. Where did he go? You scream with frustration, pounding your fist into the pillow. It was all a dream. It was now morning and you sigh grumpily. You’re still upset from the dream, but you start to feel better since you’re seeing Jack soon. You turn your thoughts on to better things, like last night. Last night was wonderful! You couldn’t forget the look in his eyes when he kissed your fingers, or the way he spoke to you. Everything about him you loved. Wait....you loved? Loved? Hmm... so you love him now? Nah. Just a little crush, that’s all.... Yeah... that’s what it is.... You shake your head and get dressed, heading downstairs. You quickly pour some orange juice and hum a tune softly to yourself. Your father was probably gone and working, so you just decided to go on your merry way. After drinking your orange juice you eat something quick before heading outside to meet Jack! You have a slight skip as you walk to the old place that you and Jack meet, and you feel your heart flutter as you see him. But then your eyes widen as you see him bending over, looking for something. “Bloody bottle...” you put a hand over your mouth, and you feel slightly guilty for staring at his backside. But hey, you couldn’t help it! It was cute! “Enjoying the view, Luv?” he says cheekily, winking. You blush furiously, looking away. “So, what’s the plan fer today?” “I’m... uh... going to teach you how to dance!” “Sure. Lemme jus’ take a sip-” “NO!” you say, smacking the bottle from his hand, where it lands on top of a hay stack. “What was that fer?!” he exclaims. “You can’t be TIPSY when we dance!” “And why the bloody ‘ell not?” “Because, dancing is graceful. And trust me, you’re not graceful when you’re drunk.” “Not even a sip?” “Nope!” “Just a little drink...” “No!” “Not even-” “Jack!” you growl. “Yer cute when yer mad.” “Don’t change the subject!” “Is that a vein in your fore-” he doesn’t get to finish as you glare at him more evilly, and he shuts up. “All right, Luv. You win. Let’s dance.” you sigh irritably and nod. “All right, no what you do is...” you take his hands and intertwine them with yours, and pull him close to you. “We’re going to do slow dancing first.” “Aye...” as you begin to dance, you smile. This was nice. You start to move around more comfortably, but Jack stumbles. “It’s all right, here, look at me. Focus,” you say softly, and he nods. His eyes were into slits, as if concentrating very hard. You start to think he looks so adorable with that look on his face. You lay your head on his shoulder, and he starts to get better as time goes. “You know, Jack, you’re not that bad.” “Ah, I guess I’m not. But I think I’m only doin’ this good because I’m not drinkin’.” you smile, and inhale his wonderful scent. He smells just like the ocean. And maybe a little bit of alcohol, but you’d overlook that. You dance for several more minutes before you speak again. “All right now, you got to dip me.” he nods and dips you, and you stiffle a laugh as he almost drops you. He grins, bringing you back up. “Sorry,” he adds with a wink. “It’s all right. We’ll try again in a few minutes.” you get close to him again, and you feel his cheek graze yours. “I’m actually... kinda... enjoyin’ this,” he said with a smirk. “Well, it’s not that bad you know... as long as you’re with the right person.” “Am I the right person?” he whispers in your ear. You stop dancing and look into his eyes, searching for any sign of emotion. He stares right back at you, not blinking. “Yes,” you say softly, and he cups your face in his hands. You’ve been waiting for this moment since you first laid eyes on him... and now... it felt so unreal. He placed his lips upon yours, and you kiss back with a passion you never thought existed in you. He quickly puts his arms around you and deepens the kiss, and you realize that there was no turning back, for you were too far in. He runs his hands through your hair, and you pull on his shirt to bring him closer, if that’s possible. There was no escaping from it, or trying to deny it. There was no sugar coating, or trying to convince yourself otherwise. What just happened bared all misconceptions that you’ve had, and you knew deep down in the most secret part of your soul what you’ve been hiding from yourself all along. You were in love with Jack Sparrow. You smile nervously, and look away when he breaks the kiss. “Um... dance lessons are over for today!” he grins and kisses your hand. “So we’ll meet again tomorrow?” “Yeah.” “Lemme walk ye home...” you shake your head. “No, that’s okay. I feel like going out for a walk first.” he nods, and then gives a little wave. “See you tomorrow, Luv.” you wave back and head off, where to, you have no idea. But you didn’t see a figure watching you walk away, an evil smile dancing across their lips. As you leave you feel different. You have never felt this way about anyone before, and you couldn’t help but replay what just happened over and over in your mind. As you continue to walk, you stop and sigh. Jack must’ve knocked your beret out of your hair when he was running his hands through it. As you walk back to where Jack was, you stop dead in your tracks. There, sitting on a chair was him and another woman, clinging to him as if there was no tomorrow. You feel tears sting your eyes and your fists clench in anger. You clear your throat and his eyes widen, and he tries to explain to you. “Wait!” he says, seeing your retreating form, “come back, Luv! It isn’t like tha-” “Save it,” you growl, walking fast down the street. He pushes the giggly woman off of him, not caring if she hurt herself. He dashes after you, trying to get you to stop and listen to him. “Please, listen-” he tries to grab your arm but you flinch at his touch. “Don’t ever touch me again!” he stops and looks at you, and you run through the busy streets, back to your home. It’s now nighttime, and you sob as you open your door. How could he do such a thing to you? After all those fun times you had, and that kiss! Why, it probably meant nothing to him. But it meant something to you. You sniff and head upstairs, and start crying on your bed. While you were laying on your mattress, you hear someone yelling. “HEY!” you ignore it, but the voice keeps getting louder. You growl and open your window, seeing Jack. “GO AWAY!” you scream. “NO! Not until we talk this out!” “I DON’T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!” all the anger you’ve tried to let go is coming back, and you start screaming profanities at him. His eyes widen at your choice of language, but says nothing. “I hate you!” you say, “you kiss me then you move on with someone else! How could you!” “Luv, it wasn’t like that!” “Sure, and she just innocently ended up on your lap!” “Well, ye can’t blame ‘er, Luv,” he says with a small grin, “I’m Captain Jack Sparrow!” right when those words came out of his mouth he instantly regretted them. “What’s going on up there?!” screams your father. “NOTHING, FATHER, JUST THE BLOODY WIND!!!” “Go away,” you say more softly to him. “But-” “No, Jack. Just go. You have no idea how bad you hurt me...” you sniff and then say in a hoarse voice, “you broke my heart.” * * * * Jack felt sadness go through him when he heard you say that. “I’ll leave ye be then,” he says softly, walking away. It really wasn’t like that. He didn’t know some woman he knew a long time ago was waiting to see him! He didn’t even know she was there! It went like this... “Hello, Jack! You haven’t talked to me! No letters! nothing!” cried a voice, appearing from the shadows. “Uh...oh...hi...Jackie...” he said slowly. The woman was about five foot five, with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She dressed horribly, but she gave Jack a grin. “I heard you were in Port Royale...thought I’d give ya a visit. You can make it up to me,” she whispered, sitting on his lap. Jack’s eyes widened, and flinched in disgust. “Uh, listen, this isn’t such a good ide-” he was stopped in mid-sentence by her mouth covering his, and he was instantly thrown off by this gesture. But when he broke away from the kiss and was about to tell her off, there stood you, seeing the kiss. And that’s what happened. Now he had to explain to you the truth! But how? He always played women, true fact, but he didn’t want to hurt you! He... felt different when he was with you. And now you were mad at him, so now he didn’t know what to do. He walked away to the nearest pub, and of course, drank rum. Once he had enough, he bought a bottle to bring with him on his ship, and then he sat down on his bed, lost in his thoughts. Now that he was properly drunk, he could relax. But how could he convince you he didn’t do it? He sat there for at least fifteen minutes, until he thought of an idea. “Will!” he says brightly, “he’ll know what to do! He’s good with the ladies.” and so off he went to visit Will, and he vowed if it took him his whole life to prove to you the truth, so be it! * * * * * CHAPTER 5 You sigh, wondering if that was the right thing to do, to just let Jack walk away. But then again, you did see him kissing another woman! So he deserved the cold shoulder. You have nothing to feel sorry for! And you shouldn’t feel anything for him either! He doesn’t care about you, so why should you care about him? No, you no longer cared for that scum. “Then why do I miss him already?” you whisper. * * * * Jack walked quickly to see Will, wondering where his house was. He was sure to figure it out once the area would stop spinning. He swayed to a house that looked familiar, and sighed. He hoped Will could help him with his dilemma. As he walked up the steps and onto the porch, he walked into the door. “How’d that get there?” he mumbled. “WILL!” he shouted, “OPEN UP, MATE!” more pounding on the oak door ensued, and finally a very tired and irritable looking Will appeared. His face softened as he saw who it was. “Jack?” “WILL!” his arms were opened wide, a large grin plastered on his face. He didn’t care what time it was, but he was acting this happy just to get Will angry. It appeared to be working. Will would have been excited to see his friend at any other time, but since it was past midnight, he settled for a scowl. His curly brown locks were everywhere, and his clothes were ruffled. “Aye! Will, glad yer up, thought I was interruptin’ yer sleepin’!” “Jack, what are you doing here?” “I need a little help...” “It’s past midnight!” “Really? Oh... well, it don’t matter. I... am in a bit o’ “woman” trouble.” “Can’t you come back tomorrow?” “Nah, this needs to be dealt with now!” Will sighed, opening his door. “Come in then.” “Knew ya wouldn’ let me down! And guess what...” Jack grinned, bringing the bottle of rum from behind him and into Will’s view, “I brought us rum!” “Oooh! Excellent!” exclaimed Will with false excitement. They sat at the kitchen table, and Jack began to tell his story. “Ya see, I met this woman-” Will rolled his eyes. “What?!” “Why am I not surprised,” he smirked. “Well, if I could finish the story without ye wisecracks, the sooner I can leave!” “Go on!” ushered Will. “Well, she’s a very nice woman... I was training her to defend ‘erself, and we were gettin’ pretty close..until we kissed.” “Okay...” “Now, hold on. I’m gettin’ there. So then, when she leaves, I find out that a woman I went with a long time ago, Jackie, was followin’ me, an’ she kissed me! I didn’t like bein’ near ‘er, and when I was about to push ‘er away, there she stood, wacthin’ me and Jackie.” “Well, Jack, you are known to break women’s hearts.” “But thas’ it! I didn’t do it intentionally! And now she’s angry with me, said I brok ‘er heart. I gotta fix what happened, Will.” “And why do you want to convince her you didn’t do it? I mean, you do this to women all the time, so I’m confused!” “Because she’s different!” Jack growled, slamming his bottle of rum on the table. Will put his hands up in defense. “All right, Jack. I’ll help you. What do you want me to do?” “I was hopin’ you would know. Yer good with these kind o’...things.” Will sighed, running his hands through his curly brown hair, his dark eyes deep in concentration. “Did you apologize to her?” “O’ course I did! She said she hated me and ta go away.” “Can’t blame her.” Jack glared, but Will continued. “You just need to get her to listen to you. Give her... flowers or something.” Jack rolled his eyes. “Yer not helpin’ me.” “I don’t know what to say, Jack! I’m not as good with these things as you say I am!” Jack knew Will was irritated for waking him up, but he didn’t care. “Fine, I’ll do this meself, then. Some friend you are!” he knocked over his rum bottle and it fell to the ground, and Jack looked at it for a moment. “Sorry,” he mumbled to the bottle, as if it had feelings. “Jack, you just need to tell her what happened, and apologize to her. That’s all you really can do. And if she still doesn’t want to hear it, then you’ll just have to wait for her to come around.” Jack sighed, a look of sadness crossing his handsome features, and he picked up the bottle that laid on the floor. “Aye, so let’s get workin’!” “Working? Working what?” “The plan.” “Oh... we can’t do this tomorrow?” “No! We gotta do this now!” Will looked at his friend’s face. He actually wanted to devise a plan. But then he wanted to go to back to bed. “Hey! Don’t you start betrayin’ me now! After ye whacked me with me paddle from the boat, and then ye left me to die for-” “All right, all right!” cried Will, now feeling immensely guilty. Jack smirked in victory. Then Elizabeth’s voice was heard. “Will, what’s going on down there?” “Did I interrupt anythin’?” winked Jack. Will blushed, his eyes widening at his friend’s forwardness. “Of course not!” Jack wiggled his eyebrows, and Will coughed nervously. Ah, the sacrifices people make for their friends. Will gazed at the staircase with longing, but stayed at the table. “All right, let’s devise a plan...” “Ah, wait...” Jack finally took a sip of his rum, and Will waited impatiently. “Yer very uptight, Will. Nothin’ a bottle of rum wouldn’ fix.” “I am not uptight!” he growled. “Yes ye are! Look at ye! You probably never had a drink in yer life, have ye?” “Y-Yes, I have!” “Ah, yer stutterin’! I knew it! Not a bad bone in ya! Yer as pure as snow!” Will felt his cheeks burn in embarrassment. “Th-That’s not true!” Jack snickered. “Have ye ever thought of bein’ a priest?” “JACK!” Jack knew he was irritating him, but he only meant it in good fun. He shook the bottle in Will’s face, and grinned. “So yer not pure, eh? Then go on, drink it.” he shook it once more for better effect, while Will was fighting not to give in. “Eh, you always wondered what it tastes like, don’t ya?” Will glared and grabbed the bottle, and took a long gulp. “HA!” he shouted triumphantly. Jack shrugged. “Eh, I’ve seen better.” Will squinted and took another long gulp, and then another, and then another... Well, you get the point. Soon Will was laughing, as he was done with the bottle. “I told ya I’m not puurre.... like snoooow!” Jack bit his lip to make himself not laugh. “O’ course, mate. I was wrong. I’m very, very sorry.” “Ya shoul’ bee.” Will snickered and put his head in his hands. Elizabeth heard the commotion and came downstairs. “What is going on, here?” “Uh...” Jack didn’t have a good cover up. “Well, ye see-” “Hi, Uhlizebeeth!” shouted Will drunkenly. Elizabeth gasped, and glared at Jack. “What did you to him?!” she shouted, and Jack shrugged. “Nothin’! See, he’s just... tired,” he said lamely. Will nodded stupidly. “Yeah, I’m... what did you say I was?” “Tired,” finished Jack. Will nodded in remembrance. “Right! I’m tired!” “You got him drunk, didn’t you?” “O’ course not! He’s fine, right Will?” he patted Will’s back softly, which caused him to fall out of his chair, snorting with laughter. “Jack! He’s DRUNK!” “Jack, he’s drunk!” mimicked Will in a high-pitched voice. “He’s not drunk, Luv,” explained Jack softly, “why, he’s just... erm...” by observing Elizabeth’s glare, he knew it was time to go. “Well, I’d love to stay and chat, but I’ve got places to go people ta see-” “People to seeee!” came a voice under the table. Jack ignored Will and continued. “So, I’ll see ye... tomorrow. Aye, tomorrow. And we can work out uh... the problem I have, okay Will? Will?” Jack glanced at his friend on the floor, and saw that he was giggling amusedly. “Goodnight!” Jack said hurriedly, and tipped his hat in goodbye, leaving a stunned Elizabeth to deal with her drunken husband. |
