Prologue – The Legend of the Fire Topaz

“Many years ago on a small island off the coast of what is now Devil Port, there was a stone created out of the purest magma and topaz in the deepest depths of an active volcano. It is said to give the owner the power and authority to be unstoppable, unbeatable and powerful. It has been said that the topaz is the size of a small bowl. Nobody knows now where the Topaz is but those who have the secret.” You lean back in your chair as your crew sits at the edge of their chairs eyes wide in wonder. Your first mate stares back with a skeptical look.

“Jessie, a mysterious topaz that nobody knows where it is? It’s a fairy tale.” Tobias Wells your first mate tells you. You’re unfazed by his total lack of faith. He told you once before that he’d rather be skeptical about everything and have you surprise him than be a believer of everything and be disappointed later.

“I tend to prove you wrong, Toby. I want to go after it.” You say then taking a drink of your rum. Toby leans forward, a little shocked.

“Why?” Toby asks you confused. You’ve done things like this before but the glint in your eyes is worrying him a little.

“Because I mean to use it to help me find Captain Drake. You see, there’s a problem that he and I need to settle.” The glint in your eyes became stronger as you spoke. Toby nodded to show he understood. The rest of your crew was grinning at the prospect of raid and pillage of another ship.

“Of course,” You continue, “ we’ll need to find help because Drake is no match for our ship alone. You all remember the Havana incident?” You tell the crew as they nod for the Havana incident was burned permanently in your minds.

“Who is going to help us? We’ve almost have as bad reputation as the Black Pearl!” Simms, your boatswain asked a little disappointed. You grin at him taking your time in answering by taking a long swig of rum.

“Exactly Mr. Simms! We’re going to approach the Black Pearl and her captain with a little preposition.” You grin at your crew looking mildly crazy.

“Are you daft woman?!” Toby hisses at you and your grin just gets wider in response.

“Wesley, I need you to scout out the area. Find as much information as you can about the Black Pearl and Captain Jack Sparrow.” You tell a tall but weedy man sitting across from you. “We sail as soon as you come back. Men, to the ship.” You order your crew as you get up from your seat. The crew obeys filling out of the tavern, The Treasure Cove, and head for your ship, the Devil’s Wrath.

CHAPTER 1 – Tortuga and a Proposition

The Black Pearl had just left Puerto Maria Catalina and heading for the open Caribbean sea. The crew was working hard at their chores and the sun was shining down on the Captain at the wheel making him look like a pirate god. He was Captain Jack Sparrow and as most pirates would tell you, he was legendary. He had keen senses when it came to the ocean. It was almost like a sixth sense. However, as much as he was aware, he hadn’t noticed the ship behind him.

“Captain, there’s a ship following us. Has been since Puerto Maria Catalina.” Anamaria said as she came up to the helm. Jack looked at her with a grin.

“What does the ship look like and how far away from us is it?” Jack asked her getting excited about a possible pillage and raid.

“It looks to be a pirate ship, like the Black Pearl, but it’s got a reddish tint to it. It’s right behind us.” Anamaria reported.

“Weigh anchor and everyone on deck. Find out who it is.” Jack ordered the crew and people rushed about to obey.

As you close your telescope, you grin. The Black Pearl had spotted you. It was game time. You spin the wheel and feel the adrenaline rush the usually happens when you are about to do something that could change your life.

“Pull the ship parallel to the Black Pearl, make them sweat a little. Run up the colors and adjust the sails! I want this ship gliding on the water!” You order your crew smiling at them as they grin back. Your crew was loyal even if they thought that you were daft due to being in the sun so much.

Mr. Gibbs was the first to spot it. In the sunlight, the gold letters on the side of the ship’s hull spelled out the Devil’s Wrath. He turned towards his captain who was at the rail beside him watching as the ship was pulled parallel to his own.

“Mary, mother of God! It’s the Pirate Queen!” Gibbs says his eyes wide with fear. The rest of the crew hear him and rush to the rail to see. They too look at the Captain with fear betraying their outward appearance. The captain just stands there smirking.

“It’s alright. She probably wants to align her ship with us and make me a Commodore.” Jack reassures his crew self-righteously.

You smile as your crew stands in their positions ready for your next set of orders. The anchor had just dropped and your ship and the Black Pearl were now parallel to each other. You silently laugh as you spot Captain Jack Sparrow looking quite smug. ‘You’d throw him for a loop then,’ you think to yourself.

“Permission to board, Captain Sparrow?!” You call out to him.

“As you wish, your majesty.” He calls back going into an exaggerated bow.

“Men, board the ship. Stand in formation until you receive orders.” You address your crew as they got ready to carry out your orders.

You waited until the last person on your crew, except your cabin boy, had boarded the Black Pearl to board yourself. You walked over the gangplank to find your crew standing perfectly straight in the line two feet away from the railing. As you step onto the deck, you pivot and walk down the line and inspect your crew. Satisfied with the display from your crew, you turn and find the crew of the Black Pearl nervously mirroring the layout of yours. You grin at them then turn to Captain Sparrow.

You step closer to Sparrow, your plan forming in your mind. You catch the eye of your first mate, Toby and he rolls his eyes at you. You give him a smirk and step closer to Sparrow so now you can see the individual threads in his shirt. You slightly turn your head so your eye catches that of your first mate, Toby. You wink at him and you can tell from the distance that he’s inwardly groaning. This isn’t the first time that you’ve pulled something like this to get someone to go along with your plans.

You, by now, are even closer to Sparrow. So close, you can count the individual threads of his cotton shirt. You smile impishly to your self as you bring your finger up and trace the shirt line where it should have been laced up, lightly caressing the bare skin. You see his breathing becoming ragged as your touch affects him. You lightly weave your fingers through out his salt crusted hair and pull him towards you. You kiss him with a passion that would rival that of lovers reuniting. You pull away and smirk at his dazed expression.

“Good. Now that I have your attention, Captain Sparrow, it seems that I have a proposition for you to consider.” Sparrow comes out of his daze and gives you a cocky smile.

“Well, whatever it is love, I’m sure I’ll find it agreeable.” You laugh and turn on your heel with a slight sashay of your hips and lead the way to his quarters.

CHAPTER 2 – The Dastardly Deeds of Captain Xavier Drake

After you walked off the deck of the Black Pearl and headed into the Captain’s quarters, you run your hand against the cherry wood desk. It was almost a carbon copy of the desk that graces your quarters. The desk that was your late fathers. The mere thought of your father brings a rush of memories to you. You blindly grope for the chair that sat up against the desk. You sit as you pull the chair out and rest your elbows on the desk using your hands as a rest for your chin as you remember.

The sun was shinning in almost a too perfect way. The clouds were pearly white against the sapphire sky which was mocking the Caribbean ocean beneath it. A ship gracefully drifted above the water with its mahogany sheen illuminating in the suns rays. You climbed the rigging of your father’s ship taking in the Caribbean for all it’s worth. You hear a shout that sound suspiciously like your mother and start climbing back down. Your feet hit the wooden deck and the heel of your boots click with each step. You greet your mother with a kiss on her cheek and a hug.

“What is it this time mother? I was going up to the crows nest. Seems like Evans fell asleep at his post again.” You ask silently chuckling as if Evans falling asleep was the funniest thing in the entire world.

"Your father wants to see you in his quarters.” Your mother replies in French. Worry is etched into her face. You instantly become alarmed. When your mother worried it was usually for a good reason and to top it all off, she was speaking French which was something that your father, mother and you only did if you were discussing something that the crew wasn’t to know. You brush past her in your excitement and head to your father’s cabin.

When you get inside, your father is at his desk looking years older than he was. He motions for you to sit in the other chair and you do so.

“Jessalyn, I suspect a mutiny to happen.” Your father was deadly serious. It scared you. “I expect you to fight for the ship after it happens. The Wrath is yours by right and by birth. You are to be the next Pirate Queen and rule the pirate realm. I love you my Jessie. Be strong. Now, go back to your duties. I don’t want the crew to know we suspect a thing. We’ve got to use this as an advantage.” You consider that your dismissal, your father’s words heavy on your heart.

The afternoon went by in a blur but when the sun started to set and somehow the Wrath had gone way off course. You come up from the galley. There was no one on the deck. You thought this strange, but had no time to consider it as a pair of rough and calloused hands grabbed, gagged and blind folded you and tied you to the mast. They undid the blind fold and took out the gag. You saw your father and mother being dragged up to the deck in front of you. His hands were tied behind his back as was your mother’s. You watched in horror as your father was beaten and your mother raped and killed. As your mother’s body was thrown overboard, you saw your father’s first mate Xavier Drake come up in your father’s full Pirate King and Captain formal outfit. He smiled at the crew who just betrayed your family.

“’Tis a shame that it had to happen this way, Alex. You knew this was coming didn’t you? Decided to take the coward’s way out and warn your precious daughter. Too bad once she sees you die, she’ll won’t get the chance to become Queen. Oh yes, your precious Queen is dead.” And with that Drake lifted his sword up.

“Jessie, remember what was done here.” And for the first time, you saw your father as an aged defenseless man, no allusion to the glorious King he once was. Drake then took the opportunity to drive his sword in your father’s heart.

“Victoria!” Was the last thing on your father’s lips before he died.

“BASTARD!” You cried out. Drake had just laughed like the mad man he was and it was enough to send shivers down your spine.

The door to the cabin opened bringing you out of your memories. Jack Sparrow walked in the doorway followed by your first mate and his. You stare at the third man, not seeing Jack or Toby sit down.

“Bootstrap? Bill, I thought you died?” You ask whispering. The man smiles warily as if he’s used to it and probably was. Jack grins at the man. Toby looks at you surprised.

“Oh, him? The whe-” Jack said.

“I’m William Turner. Bootstrap was my father.” The man said cutting off Jack and extending his hand. You take it and shake his hand.

“It’s pleasant to meet you Mr. Turner.” You say coming out of your daze. “Now on to business boys.” You continue, your voice slipping into what Toby called your captain voice.

“I plan to go after the Fire Topaz.” You state. Toby rolls his eyes at your attempted shock factor. Jack Sparrow looked amused and Will Turner looked confused. You resist the urge to groan at the three men before you. You take a rolled up parchment out from your boot where you had hidden it. You unrolled it revealing a very worn and torn treasure map.

“I need the Topaz to go after Captain Xavier Drake. He and I have a little misunderstanding to correct. However, I don’t have the man power and no other crew wanted to go after Drake. So naturally, I turned to you Sparrow. You have your own score to settle with Drake, if my information is correct?” You say pushing the map to the middle of the desk.

“Aye.” Is all he replies. He looks deep in thought as if going over a dark memory. Will still looked a little confused.

“What does the Topaz do exactly?” He asks you. You point to a section of the map that was partially torn off.

“Its known powers are that it makes the holder unbeatable. However, it senses whatever the owner needs most is what it will do. For example, say I need a fire for a distraction. It will make a fire appear.” You tell him. You notice Toby whispering something in his ear.

“So, we are going after a legend that nobody knows if it really exists?” You give your first mate a scowl and turn back to Will.

“Yes.” You state as if daring him to disagree. “So, Sparrow, decision time. Are you in or out?”

“We’re in.” He says and you shake hands. You feel a tingle that you’ve never felt before and you look in his eyes and find he feels it too. You both drop your hands quickly.

“Good. We sail to Port de Saint Brigitte. Here are the coordinates Sparrow.” You hand him a slip of parchment that was in your coat pocket. You lead the way out and as you motion for your crew to leave, you can’t help but think that there was something familiar about Jack Sparrow and the Black Pearl. You shrug it off for the moment telling yourself that was because he was well known in the pirating realm. By now you are on your own ship with your crew waiting for orders.

“Bring up the anchor! Open the sails! Make this ship ready to sail. We sail to Saint Brigitte!” You order and take the helm, once again feeling the adrenaline rush.

“Captain, the Black Pearl is level with us.” A girl who looked to be twenty years old with vivid red hair tied back in a braid and Celtic features announced as she came up to the helm.

“Thank you, Regan.” She nodded and went back to her duties. You smile as the sky turns a darker blue making it late afternoon. You take one look at your compass and nod as you sail onward.

CHAPTER 3 – Port de Saint Brigitte and the Old Woman

A couple of days later, you and your crew were standing on the beach of an island. A town loomed in the distance, a mixture of the sophistication of Port Royal and the atmosphere of Tortuga. You looked upon it and smiled; it had been awhile since you been to Saint Brigitte. You turn your gaze from the city line to the mass of crew members standing before you. You were in full pirate captain uniform; your usual brown trousers, white shirt, black boots and effects. Over it was a red dress coat with gold and silver ornaments and brass buttons. Draped over your shoulder was a sheath that held your sword.

You watched as Jack Sparrow and the crew of the Black Pearl walked up the beach towards you. Smiling at your partner, you turn to your crew.

“You are free to go. When I give the signal, you are to return the ship. We will be here until sunset. If you do return to the ship before the signal, I will assure you extra payment when it is due.” You tell your crew as they cheer.

“ALRIGHT!” You yell to quiet them down. “GO!” you order and your crew leaves to enjoy their town. You turn to Jack, whose own crew left as well. You nod your head in greeting.

“There are a couple of errands I need to do before we can sit down in the pub and discuss the next move. You can come if you like. In fact, it might be easier that way.” You suggest.

“Lead the way lass.” Jack says with a big sweep of his hand towards the town. You nod and start walking towards the town with Jack behind you.

Soon, the two of you come to a decaying and weathered old shack. You smile and knock on the door three times. As you step back, Jack is looking at you with an amused expression. You are a little puzzled as to why and then realize that you had been muttering under your breath in French. You were saved from any explanation due to the fact that the door had just opened.

“Bonjour?” The elderly woman at the door questioned as she opened the door. Her soft face was comforting and brought back a storm of childhood memories.

“Bonjour Alissa!” You answer back smiling, hoping she remembers you. Her eyes light up in surprise.

“Jessa? Is it true?” She asks with her English heavy with a French accent.

“Oui Alissa. It’s me.” You smile at your old friend.

“Who is with you and something has happened, oui?” She looks over your shoulder at Jack who gives a smile and looks back to you her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

“No, no, non! Nothing like that Alissa, I promise. Can we come in? I’ll tell you everything when we do.” Her eyebrow rose at your comment, but she opens the door wider and lets you and Jack pass.

As you walk in, you take in the small kitchen and small living area. There is a little hallway that you’re sure leads to a small bedroom. Alissa motions to sit at the wooden round table in the tiny kitchen. You do as she asks and sit on a rickety old wooden chair. In the dim light, you notice that Alissa looks older than she first seemed. Her old soft face has more winkles than you remember and her hair is now almost pure white rather than the gray than it had been. However, one thing you’ve noticed is that her sense of pride has not been lost in the many years you’ve been apart.

“We should introduce ourselves properly now.” Alissa states as soon as she sits down a crossed from you and Jack.

“Alissa, may I introduce you to Captain Jack Sparrow of the Black Pearl, Jack this is Alissa St. Michel. She is an old friend of the family.” You introduce the two and smile as the reorganization comes a crossed Jack’s face.

“As in the famous Pirate Seer Alissa?” Jack is in awe. She nods, impressed that her reputation is still famous.

“Oui. Now tell me why you are here after all these years, ma cher.” She directs this at you.

For the next hour, you relate the story to Alissa. Jack adds in what he can, and Alissa nods her head in understanding. As soon as the two of you finish, she gets up and goes to a very old and worn trunk and lifts up the lid.

“Do you have the maps and things with you?” She asks you as she pulls out a few papers and things from the trunk.

“So you’ll be coming with us?” You ask her, hopeful.

“Oui, ma cher.” She smiles at you.

“That’s great! I’ll meet you at the docks at sunset.” You tell her as you and Jack get up to leave.

“That is fine. I’ll will be there.” She answers. Her violet blue eyes sparkle and the idea of adventure.

“We must leave to do other errands before sunset, Alissa.” You smile at her as she smiles back and makes a shooing motion at you.

“Au revoir, Jessa.” She bids you goodbye as she follows you to the door.

“Au revoir, Alissa.” You respond as you close the door.

You leave the old house behind you as you lead Jack to the heart of the town to order supplies for both your ships before sunset.

CHAPTER 4 – A Wicked Plan and the Hidden Isle

You, Jack, Alissa, Toby and Will sat at the main table in your ship’s galley. In the middle of your huddle, parchment was spread out. Stacks of books occupied the end of the nearest bench.

“Something isn’t adding up. Drake should be here by now,” You say frustrated and pointing to a port labeled, Azure Bay. “But instead he’s over here,” you move your finger across the map towards a tiny island at the edge of the parchment.

Jack Sparrow was rubbing his goatee in a thoughtful way. “Why would he be heading towards the Hidden Isle?”

“I don’t know, but I have a feeling the reason he’s there isn’t a very good one.” You say while trying to hold back a shudder and visibly failing.

“Why do you say that, Jessie?” Will Turner asks you, his eyes full of concern because he just saw your shudder. You give a sad smile and look straight into his eyes.

“Because that’s where my father was mutinied.”

* * * *

Drake was quite proud of himself. He had just pulled the impossible. According to his sources, he has completely baffled and fooled the Pirate Queen herself and Captain Jack Sparrow. They thought he was making way to the Hidden Isle. Instead he was trailing them at a good distance. A distance long enough so they don’t spot them but at the same time, Drake could keep a close watch on his intended victims.

He stood at the helm preferring to steer his own ship rather than trusting the crew to do it. Captain Xavier Drake posed an impressive figure as he stood like statue starring at the two black dots on the horizon. Drake stood at about six feet and five inches with a muscular build. With a Hispanic mother and an English bred father, he was blessed with honey colored skin and chocolate brown hair. The ends of his mustache grew up into what could be considered a tribute to devil horns. His eyes were black but were tinged a sickly blood red color. He never smiled claiming a man who smiled was a fool and he was anything but a fool. Instead, he chose to sneer.

“S..S…Sir...th..th..the cook says supper’s ready for you in your quarters.” A rat like man brought Drake out of his thoughts.

“Thank you Ratcliff. Tell DeVil to get his ass in there and tell Hyde to take the wheel. Get Weezley into my quarters too.” Drake ordered and as Ratcliff started to turn away, “GET RID OF THAT DAMN STUDDER WHILE YOU’RE AT IT!” He roared making Ratcliff scurry off.

Later, after Drake had finished his meal and his two trusted crew members where still nursing their sixth bottle of rum, Drake decided to lay out his plan.

“As you know, I have convinced the Pirate Queen and her precious Captain Sparrow that I am headed towards the Hidden Isle. But we are in effect, trailing them. If my sources are correct, they will have to stop for supplies soon before heading to the Hidden Isle. If that is correct, the nearest port is Azure Bay. When they dock, I need you two to mobilize the crew to distract both crews while I grab what rightfully belongs to me. Can I trust you to carry out this simple task?”

“Aye.” Both of them grin in anticipation. Drake gave what amounted to his version of approval.

“I have individual tasks for the both of you while we wait for both ships to dock.” Drake starts. Before he could continue there was a knock on the cabin’s door. “Come in.” Drake called. A girl about the age of seventeen entered carrying another three mugs of rum.

“Ah, Lilith. Just in time. Tell Cookie to give you extra scraps tonight. Bring on the rum.” Drake said giving the girl a mix between a sneer and a smirk. She smirked back, served the rum and left all the while not saying a word. Once Drake was satisfied that she left, he turned back to the two.

“Now Weezley, I need you to make sure all the crew’s weapons are up to par. I also need an updated count on the ships weapons and supplies.” Drake ordered his boatswain. He then turned to his first mate.

“DeVil, I need you to do what you do best. I need you to make sure the crew is ready. Do whatever it takes.” DeVil didn’t say anything but gave a sick smile instead. Drake nodded his head in satisfaction.

“Good. Very good. No go. I want peace. Inform Hyde he’s relived of his duty.” Drake ordered them as they left. Drake followed them and took his normal place at the helm. He smiled to himself as the thoughts of what exactly he was going to do with his treasure once he got it crossed his mind.

* * * *

You sit at your desk with books spread open with a quill in an ink pot in front of you. Will is pacing along with Toby, your first mate. Jack Sparrow is sitting in a chair on the opposite side of the desk with his feet up and nursing a bottle of rum. You sigh putting your hands on your forehead in frustration.

“I don’t want to go to Azure Bay, but I think I have to. There’s no way the supplies, even if we rationed, will last long enough to go to Hidden Isle. Damn it!” You say slamming one of the ledgers close.

“Why don’t you want to go to Azure Bay?” Toby asks puzzled. You get up and walk towards the window he was looking out.

“Because I have a feeling something isn’t right. Something isn’t adding up but I don’t know what’s missing.” You say, getting more frustrated by the minute.

“Maybe instead of docking you can send a few of our crews and grab supplies for both ships?” Jack suggests removing his feet from your desk. You turn back to look at him but before you can reply, there is a knock on your door.

“Come in.” You call as the door opens to reveal a young girl with brilliant red hair tied in a long braid down her back.

“Captain, there’s a report that there’s a hole in brig, we can keep it patched for a short period of time but it’ll better to be docking at the nearest port so we can permanently repair it. Sorry to bother.” The young girl states looking a little harassed.

“Thank you for the update Regan. Do you know what caused the hole? There haven’t been any storms lately.” You say concerned. Regan shakes her head.

“No Captain. We’re trying to figure that out ourselves.” Regan tells you. You nod and give a smile.

“Alright. You’re dismissed Regan, go and patch up that hole.” You order the girl as you leave you turn back to your first mate.

“Toby, I need you to set a course to Azure Bay. We have no choice but to dock now. Sparrow, it’ll be best for you to dock also.” You tell both men as you three leave. You still have an unpleasant feeling but shrug it off.

CHAPTER 5 – Of Abductions and Betrayals

It was late the next night when you reached Azure Bay. You were at the helm gently guiding your ship to the dock. To your left, Jack Sparrow was also guiding his ship to a dock. Your thoughts turn back to when you first saw Jack Sparrow. You have a feeling that there is something familiar about him. As you think about all whom you’ve met in your life you can’t place him. You shrug it off and turn your attention back to the crew who were scurrying around the deck making sure everything was in order as they finished docking.

“Captain, the ship is secured and docked.” Elliot Simms, your boatswain, brings you out of your thoughts. You smile at him.

“Very good, Simms. Tell the crew they’re released to start the night shifts. I’m going to retire to my quarters.” You tell him as you start to leave.

Once in your quarters, you slip out of your day clothes and into a pair of worn breeches and worn shirt that you slept in. Sleepily you crawl into your warm bed. Soon the soft sound of the waves reaching the beach lulls you to sleep.

It was a clear day; soft sunlight was hitting the water making it sparkle. A soft breeze was teasing and playing with your loose hair. You were standing on the highest deck of your father’s ship looking out to the horizon. You heard footsteps behind you and you smile knowing who they belong to. A mixture of the ocean and rum hits your nose making you smile even more. Rough and calloused hands gently caress your shoulders. You lean into the figure behind you as a soft kiss is placed on your now exposed neck.

“Jackson.” The name is a statement of pleasure rather than annoyance. You turn to smile at the man with chocolate brown eyes and hair tied up in a bandana. As his strong arms embrace you, your arms encircle his neck exposing the ring with the initials JS and JR carved into the band on your ring finger. You reach in for a kiss…

Your dream was interrupted by a man whose features you couldn’t make out, grabbing you. You fight back wishing that you hadn’t left your weapons at the other end of the room. Even though you keep fighting, two more men come in and help the one bind you. As they drag out to the deck, you find your crew preoccupied by another crew.

You watch as the scene changes from the chaos on your own ship to a small rowboat. Out of nowhere something heavy hits you and your world becomes black. Meanwhile, on both ships a whistle rings out and if previously choreographed, the intruders leave.

You awake to darkness only pierced by a small stream of daylight coming from a crack in the wall. Surrounding you is an inch of dirty sea water. You try to stand but collapse in heap. Looking down for the first time, you notice that you are badly bruised all over. Your light sleeping clothes are torn in random places. Your hair, once tied neatly in a braid, is now a tangled mess. You try to smooth it out but it hurts too much to lift your arms to high and you realize your hands are tied anyway. You try to think of why you were here, who would do this and how to get yourself out of it.

On the Black Pearl, there was chaos. The injured were being tended by Will Turner and his wife Elizabeth (who had joined them after Saint Brigitte), and Jack Sparrow himself. The Devil’s Wrath was also facing similar problems. However, theirs were a little more dramatic.

“Everyone accounted for?” Orion Evans the first mate, asks Regan. She nods. However, a boy about ten comes running up.

“THEY’VE TAKEN THE CAP’N. SHE’S GONE!!” Panicky he screams interrupting the go over. Regan and Orion looked at each other in shock.

“Ok, ok, Andrew. Stop panicking. You and I will go tell Captain Sparrow.” Orion orders the cabin boy. Soon enough, they crossed over to the Black Pearl.

Noticing the chaos that was on the ship, they quickly weave their way through it trying to find Sparrow or Turner. They were saved from any further investigating because both men came up to see who had just boarded their ship.

“Captain Sparrow, we have some grave news.” Evans started out.

Grave news? I’d say it was a catastrophe!” Andrew says rather panicky. Orion give the boy a glare and turns back to the other who were looking at them with bemused expressions.

“What Andrew is trying to say Captain, is that our Captain, Her Majesty was taken by the intruders.” Orion explains trying to be formal about it however his eyes betrayed him.

“Am I to assume that you are asking for our help?” Jack Sparrow asks him. Orion nods.

“Yes sir. Since you were already involved…” Orion trailed off seeing the look on Will’s face.

“Orion, we were already going to help. It was part of the agreement between the Queen and us.” Will explained to the other man. Orion looked relieved.

“We’ll return to our ship now. Shall we lead?” Orion asked back into his element.

“Aye, that’ll be fine.” With Jack’s words, Orion and Andrew leave for their ship. Once out of ear shot, Jack and Will look at each other with amused expressions.

“Rather excitable those two.” Jack states.

* * * *

Drake was rather pleased with himself. His plan had gone off without any problems and now he had his prize. He already had his prize broken in because he really did not feel like having to fight a strong spirit such as the one she possessed. He had seen her once during these last few hours. He liked what he saw but there he sensed that she still had some of her defenses up. He would break her and then she would be his. With these thoughts in mind, Drake gathered a roll of parchment from his second drawer in his desk and walked out on the deck.

“HYDE! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!” Drake yelled across the way. Hyde was a giant compared to some men. He was all muscle from loading and unloading cargo from the time he was ten until he moved to Havana where he got into piracy. He was a master of disguises and used that to his advantage.

“You called Cap’n?” He asked the other man making Drake who was tall to begin with look like elf.

“Yes. I need you to come with me to brig. I think it’s time for our guest to see exactly who betrayed her.” Drake gave a mix between a smirk and a sneer. Hyde gave a sickening grin.

You were reviewing the situation you currently found your self in. You had been caught off guard, abducted, and beaten badly hence the bruises and new found whip marks all over. Your hands, you knew were bound but you just discovered in your self check, that your feet were also bound. Thus, you fell every time you tried to stand. You had no weapons hidden because you were only in your light sleep clothes and when you were attacked you hadn’t been able to reach the dagger underneath your mattress.

Footsteps brought you out of your thoughts. As you listen, you notice one set is heavy compared to the other. You struggle as you force yourself to sit on with your legs out in front of you all the while the inch deep murky water sloshing all around you.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here? If it isn’t Her Majesty, the Pirate Queen herself, Jessalyn Ryder.” Drake sneers coming up to the bars of the cell so you can now see him better.

“YOU!” You hiss realizing for the first time it hurt to breathe. Drake lets out a sick laugh in response.

“Yes, it is I. Frankly, I’m surprised it took you this long to figure out I was behind all this. I thought you were smarter than this.” He taunts seeing your anger. But before you could respond, his companion takes his cue and steps closer to the bars.

“Hyde? It was you who betrayed my crew.” You ask in bewilderment, totally caught off guard by the fact of your former crewmate standing besides your archenemy.

“Aye.” He says simply. He was never one for many words. You nod accepting the fact, masking the hurt that it gave.

“There is another thing Jessalyn.” Drake states bring your focus back on him. He unrolls the parchment. He looks straight at you as he starts to recite.

“According to the decree of I, Pirate King Alex James Ryder, my daughter, the Princess Jessalyn Alexa Ryder, in case of my death and her not marrying, all of her properties and being shall be connected to and claimed by my adviser and First Mate Xavier Evander Drake.” Drake smirked at your shocked expression.

“Signed by the late King himself.” Drake added. You didn’t understand. Your father wouldn’t sign something like this. He wouldn’t sell his daughter to his betrayer.

“I’ll leave you to your thoughts.” With that, Drake and Hyde left leaving you to the darkness once again.
